Title Dong Yi
I was very disappointed with this drama.I couldn't like any of the characters. Not even Dong Yi.She seemed too…
haaha yes the drama is vastly overrated all in all. I kind of get what you're saying, she had those noble beyond all means inclinations and got on my nerves...she just doesn't fit such roles, but frankly I already forgot all about this drama and I don't want to think about it again..too bad though, ji jin hee's acting skills feel wasted on it and especially his ridiculously written role.

The whole storyline in general wasn?t much to my appeal, but one thing is for sure?the quality of acting is by…
Yeah, I was rewatching the drama lately, the way she spoke was like a drone and made me want to fall asleep but i think she was meant to be this way, maybe partly due to her experiences. She this really meek character and there are times when she was really lovable and kind, and I could empathize with her. I still like how it was produced- the execution and acting are all great, but the story still falls a little flat and moreover this ushc a makjang, but at least it;s action oriented and I liked that. It's a ride. I should reevaluate my review sometime..

I agree with Shiningskyline's review, I think it reflects well how the drama ended up being, even though it started on a very strong premise. That and Inagaki actor lacks something as an actor. I don't know but I just don't buy his acting. The lead actress was, however, really nice and I liked her dad, made me go aww.

To shed some more perspetive ( I will get round ti writing a review one day) this is a yakuza drama. Expect yakuza like behaviour: but yakuza like behaviour with underlying depth of feeling and touching problems which are really sad. There is a development of caring affection in the process the main, it is about being familiy. There are paths in this drama where the characters meet and which they share but they diverge because the emotions they experiences they can often indeitify with...but they have resulted from different experiences, but that brings them closer. But it is Yakuza-themed, so be forewared if you;re not into it. But it's definitely worth watching. No fluff here it;s a serious drama.

And I'll go reconsider my drama ratings and reconsider how I rated my dramas so far. You've inspired me :)

Oh I don't mind, I can understand that you are vexed. That's why we could a system that would somehow reflect thiose differences imho. You're quite right about the secrets and the meddling dad and somewhere near the end of drama it gets to a point where it sends the wrong kind of message, I won't spoil it to you of course, but even the question of the dad with disability I have qualms about it because it seems to me that he's being used just a vehicle for defining how noble the main girl is and I felt it made things far more shallow than they should be. K2H Sounds like a mature drama. I also like stories of underdogs succeeding in the world, that's why Dae Mul was what appealed to me and I am looking into Korean Peninsula. I like and not like fluff depends on the writing but any fluff should be followed by something substantial because eating candy floss all the time is unhealthy ;)

Mhm. it is on my watch list, will watch after K2h, equator man rooftop and queen inhuym man, I ahave a sort of vested curiosity in time travel dramas. And I just love the inventiveness of the scriptwriters which provides us with so much variety haha.

is not the same as 8 in human drama or 8 in romantic comedy. I am still looking for the sort of drama that would satisfy me completely. Can you hear my hear even I have objections because it was makjangy and had that brooding forlorn older brother figure who had been someho manipulated and got even more makajnagy near the end, plus some employed some other objectionable issues. But then I just watched a yakuza drama and the reason I liked it is completely different. A heart attack you say? I will watch it for sure! :) I may well start now since its ending next week. :) Plus after watching Gumiho, which is really far more entertaining than the completely ridiculous and over-the-top Wild romance, i actually do want some more LSG :D he has a sort of appealing charm.

That is a very interesting perspective, I never quite though about it in this way and you are forcing me to reevaluate all of my dramas at this point, or rather the categories which I use to evaluate the dramas with and you just made me ask the question why I am watching dramas- what for? Because ultimately this is the core question and it changes the angles in whch we watch dramas. If someone is watching just for the eye candy then a drama that is nit necessarily very good, will be great to them, though it may well operate on these makjangy cliches. So what youre saying about how the mother acts as a sort of singifier of what may have been makes perfect sense. I sometimes forget about it and you just reminded me that various genres should be evaluated in relation other dramas from the same genres because varying genres require varying critiera. What may be an 8 in twisty makjang

But, I am actually giving it more thought now, perhaps I am wrong. The dramas like to demonise those people who seem to have a heavy materialistic lean and it's actually quite substantial. So perhaps I am a bit too judgmental, but at the same time it is wearisome that they emphasize this insistence on materiality, though still at the same time it is often something that generates the greatest division and struggle aside from ambition and power, of which Cain and Abel is a good example. I would love to see some more dramas like Kung Fu the legend continues I guess (it starred David Carradine) where the focus was on parent -child relationship that was more like mentor relationship because he was teaching his son the ways of shaolin and it was deep/supportive.That why I enjoyed Can you hear my heart so much, the brother bond and father-daughter bond and even mother-sons bonds were strong.

Hehe. Well, their interactions there werent bad, but I the chemistry there was more professional and less personal than with SHK. I don't really like her there, as I think I mentioned and that's also why SG lost its charm. The only classic drama that I don't think ever will lose it charm for me is Coffee prince.

(ctd) And I feel that Dating the enemy movie with Guy Pearce was actually more sexy and charming than SG, in the end. SG at times feels artificial, constructed for the sake of fan service and it really began to annoy me, so I am looking forward for something fresher and I really have high hopes for Equator man and King2Hearts look like a strong offering. I am just waiting until they finish airing to marathon them hungrily, oherwise I may be too impatient too wait. That and I recently reconsidered my griflfriend is a gumiho and fell somewhat in love with Lee Sung Ki. Aloso, I am very cusious about the time travel dramas, not many korean dramas did that and the premise sounds interesting..that and the royla titles which somehiw seem to play on the princess man heh. Did you get to watch TPM? Sorry for long messages and thank you, I have been well, just busy, until MDL beckoned me back :D

Oh, that's very nice! I don't think its pretentious. I originally thought it had something to do with Rita as if you were saying (I) am rita :) Well for me, and here I will disagree with you somewhat, it is easy to surpass Secret Garden,. I was actually fed up with SG as the evil/posessive mother figure in there grew tiresome. I nowadays try to avoid dramas which do that and the manner in which SG did it suddenly struck me as really annoying when I revisited the drama, I was also annoyed by the main lead actress, so I rated SG down, though the interactions between main leads were entertaining, and at first I loved the drama, but somehow I no longer see why I thought it was charming at the start. Coffee prince is way better and Coffee prince is the one classic drama that is probably impossible to beat.
