I’d understand that point if the show had actually started pushing romance, but at this point people are assuming that from a 20-second introduction of a female character.So far the show hasn’t really suggested romance at all her role seems more connected to the food supply chain storyline and the larger plot. It feels a bit premature to treat her appearance alone as a sign the drama is changing genres.

I think this is a pretty cynical assumption.A female character appearing doesn’t automatically mean the drama will abandon its contemplative tone or devolve into romance-focused storytelling. Also, the series already hints that she’s important beyond potential romance.She is a reporter, and the show has been foreshadowing issues within the food supply chain. It seems more likely that her role will connect to uncovering or resolving those problems later in the story. A character can contribute to the narrative, themes, and worldbuilding without existing solely for man-woman dynamics
