Truthfully main actors needed to be younger. No one is 30 yet by the timeline they set.
Then again the life back then was much rougher. People matured and aged much earlier. No way to put a nowadays 20 year old to shoulder these emotions. You need experience of life, in my opinion.
First half was quite entertaining. Now I am not so invested anymore with everyone scheming and hiding. I am also a bit tired of this staring look of the FL. The acting range is a bit limited. When will the FL and ML get together again after their separation?
Ji Ling's character is quite interesting and Tian Jia Rui plays it well. I am enjoying the second half of the drama more than the first half. And I find all the characters interesting, maybe one of GJM traits that I like.
The intresting thing is that still after all this time I remember it. It made a lasting impression. And someone mentioned the flute! Yes, indeed masterful. The characters were not very likable (to me), but it doesn't need to be. Leaving a lasting impression is also an achivement.
My only issue with this series is the casting of Li Yu as Duan Shi Si. This dude must be the most annoying, worst…
I totally understand you. One time is ok, twice is too much. Onedimensional and over the top. I found him especially misplaced in Fated Hearts. He cannot play a layered character.
1. Aunt and Uncle (Demon King's brother) were lovers 2. ML is demon king's son (Uncle's nephew) 3. Generation TO generation means aunt's niece (FL) AND Uncle's nephew (ML) carry their legacy and love story.
That means they are not blood related. I see the same question coming up.

It's ok to have different opinions. However I am not into romance dramas. And my criticism about the female characters is about the patriarcal idea of females as seductresses and lyers. Li Yan did not betray him, he just hated for too long without change of mind.
I loved the drama but not it's ending. People who perceived Tang Lici as an unrealistic perfect character have…
He is godlike, his powers are immense. There is obviously a great distance between him and the other humans. His followers can only do what he says or betray him (of course it must be the female characters, such a cliché in a male centric show). The most layered character is Tang Lici, the others are rather static. So I am struggling with it, but that's ok. Some like it, some don't. And by the way, I like the actors, their performance is good. It's just the story that lacks for me.
