So far at Ep 23, I like the villain characters more than the lead actors & the protagonists. The directors and screenwriters know how to turn them into lively, mysterious and interesting ones. Btw, I find the confrontation between Sifeng and the Deputy Chief funny and the whole Lize Palace is peculiar.
Good news to international fans! All episodes of the SOYP can now be streamed on iQIYI for free!! Gonna rewatch it. Really worth it. Had a bad stereotype of cdrama before bcoz of the the cringe acting and weak plot storyline until I came across this in binge-watching. Other than kdramas, never felt such a strong addiction of a cdrama after watching this.
Those who complained that the ML and FL do not have chemistry should check out their interaction clips behind the scenes. There were countless times she couldn’t express her feelings due to her identity and constraints. Some of their important scenes were also cut off. Their off screen chemistry was much greater while they enjoyed filming the drama. All the cast members were having fun and close to each other like I couldn’t believe the bland FL was actually this cheery and radiant. WJY was also close with the 2nd ML and FL. She portrayed an irony character of her actual self but she pulled it off well. Maybe to show the contrast of how XK’s flippant character was attracted to her due to their many unpredictable encounters. Blame it to the poor scriptwriting and probably in the directing of the drama. One thing I notice is that she’s really comfortable with her male costars but does not get flirty with them even with the handsome XK. Pity her to be criticized a lot just because of how she carried her character in this drama but afraid that if you watched her in LSOCE, you’d say she overacted (but hopefully not).
Her character in Love Story of Court Enemies is like Wei Yingluo’s Story of Yanxi Palace. Wu Jiayi and Wu Jinyan would fit as badass sisters if they were to play such role together in a drama lol. Looking forward to seeing the WJY sisters in Zhao Ge!!
Watching this drama just because of Xu Kai but excited to watch him being partnered with Wu Jiayi in their 3rd co-star drama, knowing that they will have another two co-star dramas which are yet to be released, but not as a couple. The opening and ending theme songs are great. Wu Jiayi as Su Youlian sometimes kinda remind me of Sulli idk. I like her cheerful personality bts. I didn’t know that she’s a very skilled dancer as well. Her tiny figure and innocent cute face in this drama making her looks like a high school teenager, when she’s already 24 y/o as to my surprise. I love the romance between the ML and FL, which can make me blush haha but hate the fact that they both are manipulated by their masters. Rooting for them till the final episode.
