I don't understand why exactly cdrama actors need to lose weight for roles when 99,9% of them are already very thin. it just makes them look sick. how come there are other actors who can bulk up and still do the same costume/fantasy drama roles but linghe always has to lose weight...

no one would create such detailed fake synopsis about the storyline and characters. they're only debunking this now because Linghe's fans said they wouldn't support the project and protested.

but it has to make sense based on the story and characterization. It was different with pursuit of jade and story of kunning palace. he wasn't the crown Prince in those dramas, he was a marquis and scholar. he chose a peaceful life in kunning palace and in pursuit of jade he became the Prince regent.
in Ci tang he is the crown prince who has trained his whole life to be king and then gets betrayed and loses everything and comes back for revenge. in the end both him and female lead rule together as equals to fix their kingdom and then step away. that made sense but choosing to give it all up to FL like he's useless is dumb and makes no sense for the character.
also you're wrong if you think zhang linghe gets modified scripts to highlight him. he has the worst agency who constantly chooses projects for him where his characters get weakened and has less screen time than even the supporting cast and they don't protect his rights as the ML.

I can't believe his agency hasn't managed to book him big ip dramas historical or modern yet after all his recent success. any other actor with his popularity would be on set filming S/S+ dramas right now but they're wasting his time waiting on a mediocre project like ci tang 😑
ok after rewatching the first 5 eps I feel much better and am very excited for what's to come.
yeah the color grading/directing isn't great, editing is sloppy and they used too much ugly AI but it's still very enjoyable to watch. both Linghe and Churan's acting is good and made me feel the emotions, I like the soundtrack and there's still so much mystery and exciting plot points.
I loved the first 5 eps. my only complaint is how short they were. 37 minutes is too short especially removing the intro and outros each ep is basically only 30 minutes 😑
