you know a show's really good when you want to watch a very specific scene, and end up watching the whole thing again, just because you want to feel the flow. storytelling, characters, motifs, and all themes are explored. in the seguk world, only "my dearest" is comparable.
i.. don't understand the hate. i'm not usually into fluff romance, but i genuinely enjoyed this from start to finish. i think everyone involved did a great job of the acting and storytelling aspect, the characters were super lovable, and the script was fabulous. regarding the historical accuracy.. people do know this is based in a make believe alternate timeline, yes? much like the monarchy has long ended in korea, it's entirely believable that things wouldn't have stayed "joseon style" if it had endured at all. weaving different parts of the long and beautiful portions of korean history into the fabric of the story made it extra enjoyable. frankly, i think some people are just looking for things to pick at, rather than enjoying this for what it is- pure delightful entertainment. as far as i'm concerned, it may as well just be another fart in a wind. i'm just so sorry that any of the cast or crew felt the need to respond. YOU GUYS DID SO GREAT.
No hate but Go-Ara's expressions looks like she is constipated. I have only watched her in Ms Hammurabi and while…
she's like this is every drama she's ever filmed, apart from maybe the cameo in hospital playlist. she's got this weird posture and way of walking as well, but maybe i'm just extra sensitive because i've already sidelined her as a terrible actor lol.
i don't understand why they kept yeoji going after ara's injury. they should have killed her off/sent her off to war/sent her to qing to investigate something.. literally anything anything would have been better than that utterly lame way her character ended up.
i really liked the story and pace, but goddamn, jae yi ruins it for me every effing time. sure, an intelligent FL who takes no shit from anyone is all fine and well, but why did they make her borderline sociopathic as well?? either jae yi has aspergers, or lee yoo young really can't act. frankly i'm more inclined to believe the second, because i can't imagine any sane writer making the conscious decision to make a character this unlikable. what sun jae sees in her, i really don't know
this fl might be the most irritating i've seen yet. she's so rude for not much reason, super inconsistent, frustratingly uncommunicative, and is so unbelievably selfish. frankly, sure i get that she's working through some trauma, but wow does she make everything everyone else's problem. i don't see the appeal in her character, or any fl written in a similar way. i don't care how pretty you are, but in the real world, this is how you die alone.
i'm so sick of female leads always doing crap they were BEGGED not to do. this is some entitlement that would be coming out her ears, which she apparently exchanged for her eyes. can we also talk about how it took her a full 40 seconds to tell him her name?? he had to ask if her name was really hong hong, for god's sake.
it was fine i guess, but i'd rather rewatch alchemy of souls or tale of the nine-tailed any day. first and last time i'll be seeing this because it was that frustrating.
i'm just finished episode 2 (because i've been patiently waiting to binge!) and i nearly died laughing from that scene where the OG yakuza geezers come barging in with their frying pans, iron pipes, and mop handles HAHAHAAA. i love lee je hoon's works, but there is zero doubt in my mind that the taxi driver series is probably the most fun he's had in his distinguished career.
this drama was truly a waste of 8 hours. i see what they were going for, but it missed spectacularly. it felt like one of those rubbish web dramas written by total newbies to test the market for emerging idols. ma dong seok's debut as a screenwriter was clearly a flop, but trying something new is never a bad thing. exploring it shouldn't be out of the question, but perhaps bring on a veteran on to the next project and work together instead.
i'm guessing that most of the cast are in it for a good time and not necessarily because they thought this was going to be a massive hit despite the mostly star studded list. working with each other and MDS might have been a factor as well. this stands for PHS, SIG, and SDI in particular. i don't remember them ever being in dramas this terrible.
BUT WILL SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT RANDOM MUTE SNAKE CHARACTER THAT DOES FUCK ALL?? i truly don't understand what her role in all this was. she had ONE expression, and NO lines. what was the point of her?? of all the disappointments, this was oddly the one that hit the hardest. i'd rather her character just have been killed off with the other four to begin with, and have the pig be a mukbanger or something instead. i don't know. the whole drama was a mess, but something about this character and casting really pissed me off.
Lol!! found him annoying at first. Im starting to like him at ep 11 xD
lol you're right. i've finished it now, and he's much more likable later on. i jumped the gun when i made this comment, but in my defense he was a real pest for the first 7 eps!
this show has the worst written villain and dumbest premise ever. sorry, but what secretary of state runs a shadow branch of the NIS and just has a license to kill? also, since she only turns up for like an 8th of the show, we don't know anything about her or her motivations. even the conception of oz just seems lazy, to be honest. for a shadow organization that stayed hidden for 25 years, they sure do screw up a lot, don't they.
i nearly threw my whole laptop away when ba reum first suspects a whole ass MIND SWAP. the whole idea is absurd. although the transplant of the frontal cortex is MARGINALLY more realistic, the patient would likely have died a few days into recovery, if not on the table. i realise it's crucial to the plot and this is hardly a medical drama, but does this series have zero basis in reality? if you told me that ba reum underwent hypnosis to "cure" his psychopathy (also unrealistic, but achievable for short term results), i'd be more inclined to get behind the idea.
i will say that the twists and turns were fun to watch, but the subpar acting from some of the cast really screwed things up for me. i shall not name names.
and, WOW POOR YOHAN, this whole show really did him dirty.
seriously, has no one here seen john wick though?? the plot in the few episodes is pretty much identical. they just switched a dog out for a brother. not to say i don't like it though. i'll be coming back on the days i'm angry at bosses and need some gratuitous violence. or i might just go see john wick again. who knows.
sorry, but yoona can't act her way out of an untied sack. she's been working with chemistry angels like lee jun ho, lee jong suk, hyun bin, ji chang wook, and ruined every single one of these projects. fabulous personality for chat shows, looks for commercials, and a stable enough voice to try a solo career. just.. anything but this. please.
anna is basically every helpless mary sue every played throughout history. i loved almost every other aspect of this show but her character. HOWEVER. i also recent watched half of king the land (she was that unbearable), and am now convinced that yoona is just better without acting in her resume. if she can't generate chemistry with hyun bin, ji chang wook, lee jung suk, and lee jun ho.. then maybe just give up. chemistry angels like these men not being able to rescue anything she's been in is a legit sign.
it was fine i guess, but i'd rather rewatch alchemy of souls or tale of the nine-tailed any day. first and last time i'll be seeing this because it was that frustrating.
