OMG I can't stop laughing while reading your comment because it's seem the same like this comment is look like…
Holy hell @KM, people and fans are out of their minds. All those replies to you look like they responded to somebody else cause I see no hate and no twisting in your original post... Just wow. Looks like people can't or don't want to read, sadly. It's ridiculously funny how everything below your post is so random. I wouldn't take this personally, let's just say people can't understand written text and let it be. :D
Also, I feel the same way as you, it's just personal taste, there is just something that doesn't click for me.
This drama made me a fan of Lee Yun Hee without any prior knowledge. She was just amazing. Don't expect much of a story or character growth. The story spans only a few days and people don't change that fast (if ever). The whole group is kinda character of itself and it is very enjoyable and comfy to watch them interact and react to things.
Also holy moly France was amazing. I wish there were more dramas like this but I get why there ain't. I also get why some people might be disappointed. If you go into it expecting more than being part of the tour, you might get disappointed. If you just want to enjoy some slice and life traveling with romance, go for it. The ending is kinda similar to most of the western movies handling this kind of story. So it's just so so.
Just let go. Buy a ticket. Sit on the bus. Become part of the tour and enjoy the travel. Even if you might not like some members, those are the strangers you will be stuck with for a few days while going around France. So you better get used to it if you don't wanna have your trip ruined by meaningless things. Maybe you will even learn something from them. I mean life is full of different and strange people who all have their quirks and story so you better watch and listen.
Whoa what an awesome comedy. Completely mind blown. Once again finding that hidden gem that hits the spot.
It feels like a parody and I am not sure if it's supposed to be but that's how I decided to watch it so I could forgive almost anything by the end. It was amazing watching a mentally ill person and her descend into madness (or ascend?). FL (the mother) is very strong and the way she deals with problems was refreshing. Sadly by the end her character (and strong mind) kinda deteriorated but who wouldn't... Second FL (or was she main? well...) stole the show which was basically all about her and she did so well. As everybody said, by the end the husband couldn't go any lower. I mean he was at -150 level of hell with all those nasty demons. Also a special highlight for the daughter of friend/professor. You wouldn't expect the kid to be the only reasonable person in the room right? But you would probably also expect to move the **** out of that house.
If you go for it, watch it as a comedy. It's ridiculous, it's funny when it's not supposed to be and it's absurd. I really hope it was meant to be because it takes all the melodramas, makjangs and other whatever jangs and goes over the top while kinda keeping itself in checks.
Also with people saying there is no romance, I have to disagree. Yes it is not a fluffy rom-com, it's not even rom. There is almost no "skinship" but romance is not the point. Though, it has slow natural progress and feels very... normal and comfy. No kisses in the show and I mean... do you really need it? Well, I guess you do but, hey!
OST was amazing and helped to set the scenes. I mean you get a ridiculously dramatic evil melodrama scene and then the classical evil orchestra starts playing and you think it's the soundtrack but NO THEY ARE ACTUALLY PLAYING IT IN THE ROOM and the character starts dancing to it and it's just so freaking over the top.
TL;DR: Don't look at the rating. Try it but watch it as a comedy (that tag is there for a reason, I hope) otherwise you might dislike it. Great psycho acting. Handles some serious topics but you still can't take it seriously. Definitely Hidden gem.
After using this site for a couple of months, I have seen the bias of the international fans on kdramas. I'm guessing…
Hahaha. Totally agree. We are in the same boat. It's so hard to get to some stuff just because it's burried down there in the abyss. Watching FLs trashed all over while the guys get free pass is sometimes frustrating but at least it's a good indicator.
This was fantastic. The relationships, the progress, characters (main and sides), just amazing. I did not expect this after seeing the ratings but reviews kinda balanced it soI just gave it a GO, especially for the casting. I enjoyed Lee Sun Kyun in almost everything I watched him in. I found Lee Yun Hee in The Package and since then it's been on and off for me but when it's on, it always hits my niche. And seeing Lee Sung Min in the cast pretty much sealed the deal for me. I still didn't expect to like it so much but I did.
What might also help you to try to pick it up or avoid it is the comment right below me which is completely opposite to me. I enjoyed the parts the comment didn't and I hated Jealousy Incarnate and even though it's by the same person, it's completely different. So maybe that could help you decide.
Anyway, I hate to say things are overrated or underrated since it depends on more factors but I believe Miss Korea is terribly underrated and it's a shame it has such a low rating. It's really hard to find grab your attention. Why is it so? I have no idea.
TL;DR: HIDDEN GEM. Don't look at the rating! Look at the cast, check reviews, don't be discouraged by the setting or beauty competition, and give it a try. I think it's much better than most. Also, check the comment right below because the contrast between us might help you.
Romance with normal ML a FL who make (mostly) reasonable decisions? Color me impressed. I totally didn't expect to like this so much. Wish they could leave out the cliche with second romance options but still they did much more than most other similar dramas. Of course, some might find it boring for the same reasons stated here but I found it refreshing.
I am screeching almost every time when watching most of the romance dramas because nothing makes sense and the endings sux. Usually because of forced separations and whatnot, misunderstandings and inability to actually open mouth and talk about things, aka "I am going to disappear for a few years because... reasons." Also, chemistry here is just WOW.
Sadly, you could take out most of the side characters and side plots about friends and the drama would only just benefit from it. And the terrible fangirl stuff (that probably depicts reality?) is just scary and disgusting but it was not the main focus and point the drama was trying to make. (Also there is not much of it).
Just go for it and try it if you are sick of all the forced cliches and unreasonable behavior and just want something calm, funny, and easy to watch.
I've no idea what to do with this rollercoaster of emotions and stupidity but in the future, I will remember to…
Now to the stupidity, angst and all that frustration. Prepare for utter madness whenever the situation gets good and timeskips to "solve" the issue.
Milan - I hate you (actually I don't but anyway) - I didn't understand the motivation of this character at all. What was the point? Was it to show mentally ill people ruining lives? Sadly no. Even by the end explained reason can't redeem this character. Milan was pure evil thrown into drama to make you angry and I don't accept this reason.
Qi Shuli (Frank) - WTH was this. Sadly another mentally ill character (it's pointed out a few times but left out). Manipulation, lying, violence, god complex and other, prepare to watch with disbelief and question every decision this guy makes. This is the guy that will lock you in the basement, build up your Stockholm syndrome and when caught up - fight for the justice he's doing. Almost never in the story are his actions questioned by anyone except the main characters. Family, friends - everybody helps. He doesn't understand NO and the meaning of NO. Even his final act of self-sacrifice is not enough to redeem this character. Almost all the suffering is his fault yet he never stops blaming others. Even in the end, he didn't lose, it was fate who lost. SWEET MOTHER OF ALMIGHTY CHAOS. - If they actually went with the mental illness - this could be a good character but no, this is masterfully acted but terribly written character.
Mochi, Kaoer - chemistry out of this world. Great acting and they almost couldn't do more to solve their issues. Yes, the pregnancy issue was terribly done, same with the Milan issue. But when you have the duo mentioned above... there is not much you can do but to jump from the bridge - heh AND EVEN THAT DOESN'T HELP YOU FOR CHRIST SAKE! Sadly the struggle really didn't help them and their characters or personas were being slowly degraded (from the lowest point in the beginning to the points down below). Have to mention that Kaoer's arrogance was.. to say the least, not ideal and some might struggle with it but they together were the perfect duo.
Jin Yi and Mochi's gang - probably the best friend you can find in there and they still could've done more but you can't say many bad things here.
Others: OMG when your parents and friends are helping the person that "kills" your husband and is basically drugging and making you mentally ill.
It is sad when the only character dealing with mental illness is the one that is basically made crazy by villains and villains that are absolutely bats*it crazy are not.
Anyway, this was written for you if you are interested and want to know the answers I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW before watching this. Prepare yourself for a rollercoaster and... if you can't take it, skim some unreasonable parts and get some ice cream or something.
I've no idea what to do with this rollercoaster of emotions and stupidity but in the future, I will remember to respect the Melodrama tag. For those reading this - This is not a story about people you will fall in love and ship. This is a story to observe these people fall in love and go through absolute torment together.
Well acted with good music and I would love to say a good story but I can't. This is probably one of the most angsty and frustrating things and definitely the most frustrating C-drama I've ever seen. The villains were the most unreasonable mentally ill people (see in spoiler) and the friends and main characters did many questionable choices and decisions for the sake of drama to prolong the frustration.
To those seeking answers - Yes, the villains will frustrate you from the beginning till the end that even the "redemption arc" will not be able to redeem them.
The chemistry was out of this world - you almost never see this. These people can act. Liu Shishi (Cecilia Liu) was amazing, Tong Da Wei was amazing, everybody was amazing but that's why it saddens me that the drama was often frustrating just for the sake of frustration.
Anyway, definitely recommend this but beware of the points mentioned. If you hate angst, stupid decisions, want just some skinship and sweet romance, don't watch it.
Also, I feel the same way as you, it's just personal taste, there is just something that doesn't click for me.
