I totally died laughing when I realized that the two leads from this drama ended up being Kim Mi So's parents…
I just watched What's Wrong With Secretary Kim episode 10 for them and my face when even the song that plays when they are at the beach is the same! :D
I'm not 30, Im 24, but I think this drama is for all of us at this lost stage of life - the "unlucky kids of 85-95". Like us, these characters grew up believing their dreams could come true if they put their heart into it. Then they became adults and realized nothing is that simple. To be a CEO you must first work a crap office job with crap colleagues and put up with, well, a lot of crap. To be a writer you must first work under an abusive team and never see your ideas come to life. To be a housewife your boyfriend must give up on all his other dreams and simply focus on having a stable job. And to love does not mean to be married and live happily ever after. Love... is so much more, that it takes 16 episodes to explain. Like everything else, it's not that simple. It requires a lot from both parts, but most of all, it requires communication.
This drama was simply amazing in describing what love is truly about. It was very grounded and made me think a lot about life and relationships. It also had some great thoughts and quotes that I'll keep in my memory. But most of all, it had feeling. Go watch it and be ready to be amazed!
This drama is pretty much 12 life lessons told in a very touching way. To never take your loved ones for granted. To always remember why you fell in love with your partner - even during the boring routine parts of life. To cherish your youth and not postpone things too much. To communicate with your partner - they don't guess your well-meaning intentions. And so much more.
It's an amazing take on life, and it has a very special element to it that made it stand out against most other dramas: it gives you the giddiness of youth mixed with the wisdom of mid-life through these solid characters. Even the support characters are a lot of fun and well built, I enjoyed this drama so much!
If you are thinking whether or not to watch it - watch it. It's not silly (like the main picture makes it look like, lol), it's the perfect mix of mature and sweet.
PS: The OST is one of the best ones, too! When the two main songs kick in you know you're in for some feels <3
Dear Lord this drama was a little sugar, a little spice and everything nice! Everything is so sweet but believable, not like a pretty yet unattainable fairytale: it's a beautiful story about people with very relatable imperfections. Also, the romance is so amazingly REAL, because there is no cringiness, no awkwardness, no eye rolls from the viewers. People get mad, then make up, the misunderstandings don't originate a melodrama like everywhere else, people talk and then love just... grows and happens - it's not overnight.
Both leads' chemistry and acting were also off the roof. Will miss them! <3
This drama is something special. I'd never watched a drama about friendship yet I decided to give this a try and Im so glad. If you're like me, do it too! It was a breath of fresh air, and it spoke to me on many levels. The main message is: everyone else always seems perfect, you're the only one whose life is complicated. But do you know that everyone thinks like that? You only get to see a tiny part of people, but everyone has a story to tell. I watched it while I was very stressed about the way my academic and professional life are going - I too am their age and don't know what the future has in store tomorrow, if Im doing good, if I should be doing something different. And this was really amazing in telling me, with many tears and many laughs, that no one knows what they're doing. And we're all in this together.
Am I the only one who didn't feel quite satisfied with the ending? Had to drop a point from the rating because:…
I agree with almost everything, especially Ji Won's lack of background - the first 4 episodes told each character's story and then Ji Won was left with nothing. Also why did her ears ring, was there really a ghost or something? They never explained that either.
However I think the past roomate story is pretty much all there is to it, and it makes sense that everyone was so dramatic about it because to many women getting pregnant in college is a catastrophe, it means your plans for the present and future got cut short. Also, since they keep saying their college is very Besides, we get to see the girl and she hides the subject, which could also mean she could have got an abortion (doesn't want to talk about getting pregnant) and that would make matters even more delicate.
This is the most amazing drama I have ever set my eyes on. Everything feels naturally beautiful, slow but steady pace in the romance that never took over the show and yet made my heart flutter every time. Fantastic way to portrait the mind, the feelings and the life of everyone on that hospital - every secondary character got developed in some way, how rare! It's, hands down, beautiful. A shame it got cut short...!
Watching Innocent Man (and I have DOTS on the plan to watch next list) and daamn he's probably the first guy that is amazingly cute and handsome and still kills it in acting. How can one look tell so many different things in his eyes, wow
I was in a drama slump and this drama got me out! So funny, good hearted, and dramalicious. Also I hadn't cried like this with a drama for a while. I don't think the ending is bad or too sad, it's actually really beautiful and definitely tugs at the heartstrings. Simply amazing!
Im on episode 5 and my heart is already crushed. How could so many horrible things happen in less than 5 hours? ;___;
The story itself reminds me a lot of the "I let you go" novel, both are brilliant!
This drama is amazing: on one hand, a breath of fresh air, since it's not melodramatic (it *is* dramatic, but everything makes sense) the romance is not the main element, the female lead is not weak and innocent, overall it is very different from the usual k-drama and makes you think, and not just feel (but it does make you feel a lot of things!). On the other hand, it is very heavy and deep, makes you reflect on what is good, what is evil, who is wrong, who is right, and why do people become "evil". The acting was top notch, how can every bad guy be creepy and pitiful at the same time?! Simply awesome.
I finished this drama yesterday and I have to say, it was amazing. From start to finish, it had the same fairy tale feel to it, even though it dragged a little on the second part.
I laughed a lot, cried a lot, awww'd a lot too and that's just what I want in a drama. Some people say it is a cliche, predictable and unoriginal (it is a remake haha) and its true, but this is what I look for in a drama - when I want to watch mind-blowing stories, with realistic and bitter romance and deeper plots, I read a book or watch a movie. I come to K-drama to let myself go, be happy, sad and touched and the actors did a great job at that! I actually want to watch I Remember You next but I don't know if I can handle Mi Young being a detective xD
TL;DR: If you are in for the feels and emotional journey, this is THE drama! :)
I wanted to love this - I loved the story, all seven of Ji Sung's characters, the bad guys and so on. BUT I hated, hated Oh Ri Jin. I couldn't finish this because of her, my god how annoying can a female character be. I mean, she was cool at times but... she killed this drama for me :(
I agree 100% with amrita828s review. The show has an interesting plot, I love the journalism theme, even more having studied a lot about it in college, the tragic families stories, the side characters and even both the main character's stories. BUT not the romance. I just don't get why they are in love because they don't seem to be in love. He really acts as an older brother/uncle (fatherly, concerned, patronizing) and she as a niece/younger sister. All the other aspects are great and that's what kept me watching this but I dont get all the comments about their "great chemistry" because my heart didn't exactly flutter and I didn't go "awww" like in other dramas (lame I know, but still...)
This was beyond amazing! With a perfect balance of drama, action, mystery, comedy and the sweetest romance ever - not overwhelming, just sweet! Loved it!
