I have to say I am a lot disappointed by how calm HS accept that QQ created him
Honestly if it were a more serious series, it'd have so much potential to really psychologically mess with someone and lead them to question their entire existence and reality. It could also be really philosophical. This series does a crack ass job at subverting the expectations when it comes to moments of tension, they instead play it as a comedy.
You need a little bit of suspension of disbelief. I think when he questioned if she was something like an immortal (like a god/supernatural being) it was a good way to frame it in the context of their world.
It's like how people in our world believe in things like fate/destiny being predetermined by a higher being. In HS's perspective - I guess it was like he had fallen in love with a goddess...but a one that was humble and personable and still actually human. She also points out that he does have free will and thoughts in how he does things that she did not expect/predict.
Trying to make antisocial personality disorder romantic...jesus christ...it's like mental health disorder appropriation. I can only hope that it's well researched and realistically portrayed, because it could go so wrong. Also lol professional boundaries.
Wait...maybe the translation has got it wrong and they're confusing antisocial personality with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). That would make waaay more sense.
Still hoping for the director to keep his promise on reuniting Yang Zi and Deng Lun. LunZi have amazing chemistry!
Wait he said that. I do too then!
Honestly I wish that was a more common thing. I feel too attached to certain couples and want them to work together only LOL. Try to watch other dramas with the ds,r actors in them but it doesn't feel the same when they work with other people. Though I guess it's partially due to the strength of the script.
My crack couple right now is Deng Yuxi and Zhao Lusi. Rewatching Ashes though and still love the performance by Yangzi and DengLun
Uhh a bit off topic but I'm so sick and tired of Japanese shotgun marriages - every other celebrity has decided…
Honestly for all we know, it could have been a de facto relationship and they were choosing to not tie the knot because it doesn't really benefit them in anyway.
Was talking about it with my friend who is married and she said there isn't really anything to it other than society's cultural value for it and some benefits you get for things like insurance. If you don't have a specific reason to do it, marriage can seem almost pointless.
Most promising show this season I think with Nokdu following closely behind. I think the concept behind this show is much more interesting. Absolutely love parody series, for all the snarky jokes that come with it bu there is still heart in this and moments that make me feel emotional for the characters.
Honestly I loved Hye Yoon is Sky Castle even when she was meant to be a brat, now she gets to be even more lovable here. I think she's going to be a rising star and if this drama were to also become a hit it would be solid for her career. She has the acting skill and visuals that suit female protags. It does seem like one of those shows that is so easily overlooked though unless you're an avid drama fan that is willing to try everything.
Also rooting for Rowoon, first exposure to him. I think he has potential, although Haru isn't the most demanding role - which is good I think for that a rookie.
I think Kim SoHyun is probably about the only actress who could make me not dislike Jojo's character lol. When I think about it logically the character has no depth and is poorly written but I can't hate So Hyun man.
Same goes for the overall quality of writing doe the drama. It's crack enough to binge even though you know it isn't really good for you.
ep 17-18: Boy these eps are getting more and more emotional. TT And "L" just keeps getting more and more handsome.…
I really want L to get more roles, his face is already a gift to the world but I think his acting really has improved as well. I want to watch Miss Hammurabi but Go Ara is one of the few actresses I can't really watch.
Honestly he was hardly the second lead with how much more screen time he had. Seriously i thought he was the unexpected…
Wow it's been 8 months since I watched this?
No I think the ending is still the same in the manga as far as I remembered, only the characters hair colours were reversed. In the manga Kaga is the one with dyed hair whilst Koushirou had black hair. From what I've noticed in most shoujos, the guy with the black hair will win the girl. It is known.
Is there romance in this drama? I saw some scenes in YouTube and it seems to be an intense heavy romance but I…
Um I haven't seen it in years, but I don't really recall much romance. People may fall in love or be in relationships but it's not romantic romance in any sense. It's just a brutal human drama that feels very raw and emotional. Definitely left enough of an impression for me to randomly click an article on it a decade later lol.
Wow I can't believe I was able to binge such a long drama without getting bored at all. I haven't watched a Chinese Drama in ages but Ashes of Love is reviving the hype. Loved the story, the characters, the music and just the whole beauty of the show. It's got to be one of the prettiest shows I've ever watched and I wasn't really ever turned off by the CGI which I think is a hard feat.
Absolutely loved the two leads, it's weird how I feel like they had amazing chemistry but were underutilized. The directors really should have pushed them more to commit to the intimate moments. I think nowadays I'm more used to real kisses than pursed lip/open eyed ones. I know it makes sense for most of the story cause of JinMi's characterization but still. It's probably my only real "complaint", even though the romance was still very well portrayed. I think it was kind of an issue whenever I saw anyone kiss on screen though, not just YangZi +DengLun. I really want to see them in another drama together, feeling hesitant to watch their other works though cause I don't know if I can bear seeing them paired with other actresses/actors LOL.
I think at one point she liked both of them, but one sacrificed the most in the whole ordeal by the flashbacks…
I hated that sacrifice reasoning. I mean he was a temporary victim of circumstances. You shouldn't be with someone because you feel sorry them. I'm not saying that's why Ayumi made her decision (but it's frustrating how we never get to see any of her chemistry with Koushirou). I hated that Kaga used that as reasoning, as if his feelings weren't just as legitimate. It's not like he wouldn't be willing to risk his life either, cause that's what he did when he went along with the plan.
Really felt like the romance was almost unnecessary here. We spend most of the time falling in love with one character just for the other one to win without getting their own romantic development. A flashback doesn't count @_@
I know I will have second lead syndrome but HERE I AM
Honestly he was hardly the second lead with how much more screen time he had. Seriously i thought he was the unexpected first lead. I never have second lead syndrome and in this case I still don't think I have it. Cause in my eyes Kaga was the lead...
And then I looked at the manga and reality hit. Black hair always wins. They goddamn flipped it in drama land.
I wish they had given us a reason to care about Ayumi and Koushirou if they were going to do us dirty like this, one flashback wasn't nearly enough. Netflix should have just changed the ending. I choose to believe it was open ended and she eventually ends up with Kaga in a non-existent second season.
