Wasted Potential

Dynamite Kiss actually started really good. It was chaotic and fast-moving, and the leads clicked almost instantly.

But after episode three or four, it started getting a bit boring. Towards the last few episodes, I was honestly just skipping through. I think the main reason was the same old cliché K-drama scenes — the chaebol boy, poor girl storyline that we’ve seen so many times already.

And I’m not even going to talk about the controversial trope of the female lead being married and the male lead knowing about it, and yet they were still… you know, getting closer. It just made me uncomfortable.

The only thing that actually kept me going with this drama was the chemistry between the main leads. They looked really good on screen — like a mature, natural couple — and that part genuinely worked for me.

I also want to mention the second male lead because I really, really wish they had shown him only as a friend. We could’ve had such a great friendship dynamic there. And honestly, we might’ve even gotten more proper romance for the second couple instead of them getting together only in the last episode.

So overall, this drama did disappoint me a bit. But honestly… that’s kind of how this entire year of K-dramas has been for me anyway.
