You get sher the most when you see his interaction with his twin brother and the story of their parents. And as i have said before the series was to short and maybe the acting not allways on point.
What i mean with trust is: That they have to learn to trust each other. Learn that their experience is a bad example for a relationship. And that is what they show in the drama. So you are right with the lack of trust.
