Well I never specified that he was morally grey. He definitely falls in the category of victim who went bat shit crazy. He very clearly had some form of psychosis because he was severely traumatized. He was literally mentally and physically ill. Thats why QianQian pitied him and hated him all at the same time. I’m not defending anything he did it was obviously bad, that’s why he ended up where he did in the end. His character has a lot of layers
The end episodes were so mid. And even attempting to illicit sympathy for that scumbag piece of abusive shit of…
I think one of the themes of the story is how all of these people were shaped by their past trauma and how choices that were made by others affected them so bad they basically had no choice but to end up corrupted and crazy. I look at it as there were no true villains only victims and morally grey people. But if anyone was I’d say it was the previous emperor and that Li guy
I have a genuine ques. What makes this drama so popular. I mean i am still at ep 27. So it's safe to say that…
In the novel it gives more insight in how the FL has unnatural strength and a natural gift for military strategy. And the ML is show to have more going on as a military leader. The show has truncated a lot to accommodate more of the secondary characters which don’t have as much “screen time” in the novel and also added and combined other characters. I personally love the show I feel like it’s rare to have a full cast have so much chemistry as a whole and the way it was filmed made them all beautiful which is appealing to a lot of people. It’s fun and a lot of people like fun. I totally understand what you are saying though
Just watched the scene of Wei Yan telling Tutor Tao about what happened 16 years ago. But I'm not sure I understood…
Yes Qi Mins dad was the prince next inline for the seat of emperor but because all that happened he died with XY dad. So same conspiracy the original emperor was influenced to try and get rid of the whole line so the son he favored would be next in line but when Wei Yan intervened he still put a Qi on the throne. You should read the Novel it’s really good.

As far as I can gather there was a power struggle between the main queen who was a Qi and her supporters and another concubine. Something happened to the main Qi queen/concubine so they brought Rongying in to keep the bloodline in the dynasty. But plots were still devised to get them out along with Wei Yan because he was a supporter and in love with Rongying. The emperor was involved but I think he was blinded by the other concubines family and ultimately paid the price when Wei Yan covered everything up to protect Rongyings dignity and to oust the emperor since he was okay with the scheme. I think Wei Yan never actually assaulted anyone and probably held back to an extent because he loved Rongying and didn’t want to destroy her reputation. He may have still loved on her enough to be in a compromised situation so they quickly got the maid in there to cover it up. The whole pregnancy thing is still confusing but I don’t think she was and the Emperor and the other concubines side had to lie to get rid of the Qi line and when that Wei Yan thing fell through.
I read the novel too and I’m still a little confused with that part
There is a small part with domestic violence but that’s it.
There is a scene that implies intimacy, but it’s when they are adults. It’s basically them looking lovingly at each other while lying in bed. And a shot of their bare feet. You never see anything below the neck. The Fl also vaguely discusses it with her best friend afterwards. Very tasteful and not egregious in my opinion.
Hey I see most people commenting on the length of the drama but are we all just going to ignore how the ML is um kinda obsessed. I know it’s not the first drama like this but some of the things added made it questionable to me. Like what’s up with the notebook filled with her name and getting a part time job near hers and so on. Felt weird like one of those situations where it would be a whole different drama if the guy wasn’t tall and good looking.
maybe be a little considerate and add a spoiler tag? 👿
Omg what? did you not see the ( ? ) I didn’t even know and was guessing, how is that spoiling when I didn’t know! I didn’t even name names, a watcher wouldn’t even know what I was talking about until they got there and even then I didn’t know. Sheesh 🙄
I agree, even if they are engaged or married now a 10yr gap definitely makes a difference especially when one…
She’s mature for her age is exactly what people say when they want to justify something they know is teetering on being inappropriate. And let’s not be delusional unless you know them personally it makes no difference if you’re a fan or not. They will portray what they want and that is all you will know. And again regardless of their personal life choices their pair up on shows definitely cater to a specific unsavory audience. And quite frankly your reply proves my point, you do not know these people personally, you have no personal relationship with them but it sure hit a nerve because someone commented that their pairing with n shows made them rightfully uncomfortable. As if it’s a personal attack you. I think you need to get out and touch some grass
Wait a damn minute! Are you telling me he blames her, what in the Cdrama hell? How does that even make sense. So he’s not made at the ball pit guy who actually hit him but some girl he spied at a party. Omg this better be good because these plots are really starting to be looney toons
