Does this series belong to the Xianxia genre?

That's still okay, but if there's an escape scene with the main character falling into the abyss while still alive, That's even more absurd. This usually happens in Chinese colossal dramas; if the main cast falls off a high cliff, they don't die, but the supporting cast members who fall off definitely do. Fortunately, in this series, that didn't happen during the escape scene. 😁😁

Jiu Si is very intelligent but just lazy 🙂, he seems to be good at reading situations and planning strategies. I really like Gu Jiu Si's chemistry with Liu Yu Ru; I see it as like General Bu Yi's chemistry with Niao Niao 😁. It's not a bad bet for Liu Yu Ru; she is lucky to have a good husband and in-laws.

I think we have different tastes about Chinese costume series. You seem to like XianXia-themed series, and if I don't really like XianXia-themed series on Youku, I follow TBOY. But this is just my opinion. IQIYI is still superior to Youku this year (until now), and there are many quality Chinese costume series, for example, UL, POA, WOACN, UTM, and TIO. Maybe you are right that the series on IQIYI with the XianXia theme is inferior to Youku.

This year's IQIYI was outstanding in presenting the Chinese Costume Series. We TV this year, in my opinion (until now), lost to IQIYI in presenting the Chinese Costume Series.

The chemistry of Bai Jing Ting with Song Yi is sweet, strong, and well matched, just like the chemistry of Leo Wu with Zhao Lu Si, or the same with Dylan Wang with Yukee Chen, or the same with Chen Xiao with Crystal Liu.
