My guess: He was cheating on the FL with the ML's best friend who seem to be a chaebol daughter of the firm they are all working at. By marrying her, he became a director. But he made it seem like the FL was the other woman, which caused her to be ostracized and gossiped about - so she quit. Thus, he broke her heart and ruined her career.

I really dislike granny, but the second female lead's mother is also just horrible.

I wonder if Han Sooyoung will also appear in this first movie, and they are just keeping her casting a secret. Going by the novel's plot, she could have a cameo right at the end of the first movie and then join the main cast in the second.

After they kinda made fun of the SML for admitting his feeling for the first time in front of the mother, they go and discuss their feelings in front of all 4 parents.

The ending ... LOL

It was not a real kiss but just a pretend one for the ex who was watching.

The episode ends with him confessing (in her father's shop, not at the pool) ... but we have to wait till tomorrow for her answer.

To the ones who guessed that the ML knew the FL's mother: you were right. And she even recognised him at the wedding.
Also the CEO found his mother's favourite web novel and is now addicted too. LOL

That was a flashback to when they were all in college. So he did not kiss his ex, he kissed his girlfriend over 10 years ago.

I think the problem was not the fire 13 years ago, but rather that he had nowhere to return too. He always returns to the same place he disappeared from, but in this case he would reappear under a bunch of heavy rubble which would crush him .

I find it amusing that the ML and FL are now the same age.

The stream was bad, so I just saw the very last scene.
DDH is in GJ's old room with her son (he looks about 5 years old) and she is telling him about his father. Then when she is about to leave the room she suddenly turns and Gwi Ju is standing beside their son. They smile at each other.

DDH has their kid and he reappears. It's a happy ending. YAY.
