how was the first ep? the rating is already low for the first ep is it worth watching or no?
MDL members have this thing that they always rate basic romcoms higher than more mentally demanding dramas, so I wouldn't really care much about the ratings. If you like crime/law/bromance dramas, give this one a try and judge it yourself :D If you're more into basic romcoms, then maybe skip this one. Though who knows? Perhaps you'll like it :D Oh, and before the rage, I have nothing against basic romcoms. I like to brainwash myself with them, too. But we gotta be real here - most times they're not really fresh or new plotwise and are only made to give us some eyecandy.
Haven't seen the original ver, but this one had a good start in my opinion. I can feel it's based on an American series, it somehow has a different vibe than most Korean dramas. Just like "Entourage". I believe the bromance will be stronger than the regular k- drama romance (female x male), so if you're only looking for the typical Korean romance, I think you won't find it here. Though I don't know what the romance was like in the original series, so maybe those who have seen it could tell me if I'm wrong?
Is it really that bad ? I stopped at ep 1. I saw clips of Moon Ga Young acting and she was really good
Moon Ga Young is doing great, as well as Woo Do Hwan and Kim Min Jae. As for Joy she's... bad, to say the least. But aside from all that, the plot is repetetive and boring. The main characters are plain, Choi Soo Ji and Lee Se Joo are much more interesting.
Ten episodes have passed, and Joy still remains plain and wooden. Also - and this is a legitimate question - is the character of Eun Tae Hee supposed to be mentally slow? Because she seems so. There are so many hints around her that Kwon Shi Hyun is just a playboy, but she chooses to trust him anyway. Like, girl, the guy made out with your best friend's mother, for God's sake. Eun Tae Hee is not the strong female lead we were promised.
Sylvia & Mor - You must hate all KDramas then. I'd like to know exactly what is so cringey - other than the lines…
Not all rom-com dramas are cringey, but this one surely is. Why? Because this is another k-drama with a bad boy romancing with an innocent girl. Even if it's meant to be that way, it could have been done in a better way, without following the typical k-drama plot and characters.
The dialogues in this drama are so freaking cliche and cringy. The main couple has no chemistry. Soo Ji x Se Joo couple is much better and fun to watch. Also, I am literally pmsl, all it took for Tae Hee to fall for Shi Hyun was a few acts of kindness and a little bit of flirting.
This drama has been boring ever since Kang In Kyu stopped working at prison. From then on, it's like any other drama set in a corrupt hospital. And the villain keeps getting away. And it was so obvious from the start who got his father's heart.
Even if Joy had only a few scenes in first two episodes, she still should have shown some progress on her acting. But from what can be seen, she's still as bad as she was in "The Liar and His Lover". Supporting roles for Joy? Yes, so she can improve and work on her acting. Main roles for her? Heck no, she's not good enough for those.
from what I've seen so far in the comments, most of us are desperate for him, but the plot seems so forced and…
Didn't even remember it was based on a French novel when I was writing the comment. What I meant by "the drama is trying to be Western" is the fact that the plot seems kinda, idk, American-like? The whole thing about rich spoiled highschoolers seducing adults, especially the guys playing around with older women (well, at least at the beginning of the drama they're still highschoolers, but they made the characters graduate quickly). I know, it's just for the sake of the story but it feels clumsy and awkward, as if they're trying to make the drama something it is not. But hey, that's only my opinion and feelings.
As you can see, the drama has been extended to 20 episodes. No episodes on 12th and 13th as they want more time for better production. So tbh we should be happy not sad for the delay as it will allow the drama to be better :D
I knew this was gonna happen UGGGGGHHH no no it’s probably just the first episode that was terrible I’m sure…
from what I've seen so far in the comments, most of us are desperate for him, but the plot seems so forced and unnatural? like, they're trying too hard to be Western?
After six episodes all I can say is: cliché. And mediocore. And predictable. Yoon Park is carrying this show alone as only his character is interesting. Kim So Hyun is doing well, as always, but she seems lost because of Yoon Doo Joon. Why? Because he's not feeling his character AT ALL. And that disables other actors to act well as they seem not to have any idea how to interact with him. I mean, even if you're doing your very best, how can you look good when your partner seems like a stone?
