Its difficult to find a drama with good lead characters now, but dramas like You are my Glory and Once we get married have great leads also the historical dramas like The generals lady and the long ballad and Oh my general have great leads.
As for the so cslled SML syndrome i only felt bad for one SML and that was in the Kdrama She was Pretty.
