Easily one of, if not the best GL this year as of right now, great story, I loved how much emotional depth and…
Exactly my feelings! Englot delivered here beautifully and I'm really happy they decided to extend the last episode instead of rushing and breaking the story with the last episode... Seriously, it was so beautiful I was craving for Saturdays to come by just to watch. The Air and The Fire still need to show their side, but I truly fear for them, because regarless of the admiration I have for FreenBecky, the delivery for this one was just... Gorgeous.
I'll admit... I started watching this whole show (4 Elements) for FreenBecky. I've watched The Earth and enjoyed it enough as I expected of any GL show, but I wasn't ready for The Water... It's not just a random GL, there is actually logic in it, the characters behaviors seemed more real, the shots were GORGEOUS and the couple? I knew of Englot but unfortunately they hadn't catpured me before, but after this one? Damn! I must say I'm even afraid for FreenBecky with The Air, because the delivery of The Water was so good I feel truly baffled. Seriously, perfect chemistry, perfect pacing, perfect plot-twists and yes, there is plenty of times that I feel is a GL, but is truly different from anything I have seen so far. Absolute masterpiece! I'm definitely be watching this again some day.
Can I just say that after this episode my heart has completely melted?
It's not just because of the beautiful development my favorite couple is having (Sasha and Gorya) but because after so many discussions online of people talking trash about Sasha, this episode alone proved my point:
This is yes a show that represents toxic relationships, and there is absolutely no one innocent here, has there is none either in real life. People are not white or black, and Sasha is the best character to represent that, because she hides behind a mask of self-confidence and superiority, but the moment that the show showed us why Sasha was so intrigued with Gorya that I KNEW she had a layer different to her character.
Is she manipulative? A little yes, but never to the extent of hurting or completely trap others.
Did she use people? Definitly, because in a world that everyone abuses her and no one seems to actually care for her, doing the same people do to her to others is an unconscient defensive mechanism.
Are her actions excusable given this fact now? No, but that's what makes people grow. No one in this world is perfect, some commit more mistakes than others, but if one day you actually acknowledge how bad you have been and decide to do better?... Well, I call that character growth. Not perfect, but messy, fragile and above all, genuine.
I never loved Sasha or Gorya for their looks, I loved them because they have more deepth than the rest of the characters, in a more suttle way that most would miss until today's episode, and I'm really happy about how the actresses are protraying them and how the whole crew behind this show is making them so beautifully real.
PS: I'm really happy Gorya got informed of the situation and shown up right after, it's a real statement of her personality. Strong, direct and loyal, all she needed was the explanation of why Sasha was behaving like she was for her to show up immediatly to her rescue. Hahaha, Gorya truly is a headstrong knight without an armor, I praise her personality.
the battle between krystal and shasha for gorya on ep 9 OH IM SO SEATED
I'm already fixing the days, hours and minutes until next episode just for Sasha and Gorya!!! They ended the episode beautifully, showing that Sasha is finally allowing herself to fall, but Gorya still has people around her that want her, so next episode will be all about Sasha being jealous and Gorya having to comfront what she had never expected to actually happen: "Should I allow myself to actually fully fall for Sasha?"... I'm dying for next episode
I'm so confused about why people are calling it cheating. It would be cheating in the case of PrimBambi, who are…
Your prediction was spot on. And I actually agree with you. It really infuriates me the people that are going online hating on Sasha for "cheating" because as you said, even if she had done it with Bambi, she wouldn't be cheating, she is not in a relationship with Gorya, and Gorya points that out to her everytime their interact... Certainly it would damange the progress they have been harduously working, but no one can call Sasha a cheater... Not in this situation.
about the shasha cheating on gorya discourse, here's my two cents:every single time shasha tried to tell gorya…
It's good to see people out there that has a similar thought to mine. Everywhere I go people just like talking trash of Sasha as if she is the worst character of the series, but I don't understand where the hate is coming from.
First, the series is about toxic relationships so everyone should be ready for a rollercoaster of shady thing and stupid stuff happening that we should just not incourage in real life.
Second, as you said and expressed well, not even Gorya is completely innocent either. Yes Sasha is someone that doesn't accept really a no and continues to persue until she gets her stuff, but she never does it in a way that crosses the line, for example, people love to point out how manipulative Sasha is to the point of plotting with Kristal to get Gorya to do the video with Sasha, but the truth is: Gorya could have simply said no, she is a stylist not an actress, and that point alone is more than enough for her to dodge such attempt. Gorya herself said she knew it was a plan but she accepted anyways because "She wanted the money".
Third, what I really like about this show is that each character in this show is broken somehow, showing realistic flaws (nobody is perfect!), but Gorya and Sasha are build in a way that in my view are way deeper than the rest. Gorya is a brutally honest person, hard working and tired of failed relationships, therefore her desire to be with Prim, someone that has always protected her, had been equally honest and is kind and talented, everything that she believes Sasha is not. Sasha was made famous from really young, which means a world full of fake friends and people that only want to approach her for her fame or money (even her own family mind you), she is used to this and found the way to protect herself is to accept reality and play the same game people play on her so at least she can take some kind of advantage out of situation that is her life.
Gorya personality is a fresh input in Sasha's life, not only because she is a challenging person that she believes is way harder to conquer, but because she would never be fake like all the people around her, so both of them kind of play around each other, Sasha for the trill and Gorya for a release of her heart broken state... They are using each other, and what I find wholesome in their relationship is that, yes everything stated as a game, but is slowly starting to turn around into reality, Gorya is ever so easily swayed by her wish to help Sasha when she is in need, something I'm sure she can't understand or doesn't want to admit herself, and Sasha? Well, for the first time she is finding herself attached to someone, wanting their company specifically when sad, wanting to make her happy when things go down (the clothes scene)... All this? This is new to her and she wants it but probably feels a little scared too of where this might go if she allows to go to far.
I believe these two are a perfect nuiance of what could be called "Healthing couple", because I believe if they actually allow themselves to fall, they could health the part of them that have been damaged by others... But trust and trauma are difficult terrains to walk on and that's why I love their development the most.
I say all that but just so everyone knows: I started watching this show becayse of Namtan and Film, I loved their other show, Pluto, and was curious about their performance in another show, I have never seen Milk and Love or the other couple, but I'm pleasantly satisfied with everyone's performance.
The only ship which partially makes sense is sasha gorya. Initially i thought that min and praew are very cute…
It's actually funny to read this because I have the same perception.
I started this series because I actually loved Namtan and Film from Pluto (I didn't know any of the other leads), but despite being aware beforehand of what this show was going to be about: toxic relationships views, I couldn't bring myself to like Prim or Bambi at all.
In reality the more the show drags on the more I don't like them.
It's not just because of the whole past things they had going on and such, but just the way they seem adamant to let each other drag on this. I mean, Bambi literally has Prim spinning around in her finger from the beginning, even when she is supposed to "hate" her for how much she hurt her by leaving.
Now they are finally together despite all of the red flags and the first sign of obsession from Bambi, Prim lashes out and says essentially a "You make me tired?"? There is just better ways to communicate and as a couple with history, I believe I just expected better?
As for Min and Praew, I totally aggree with you on there. Min just wants to stay closed and that drags on Praew in a really unhealthy way, but Praew overreachs a lot too, which after today's episode made me like her a little less... Can't pinpoint exactly what is in Praew that doesn't sit well with me but yeah.
Now, Sasha and Gorya?... They are the sole reason why I'm still watching this whole show. Sasha is openly a "playgirl" from the beginning, which for many would qualify as toxic, but to me is more of a grey area, because she never hide that part of her, which made her honest despite the total lack of consideration for other people's feelings, but that's what intrigues me so much about her character.
She is supposed to be a famous model that started really young, she likely doesn't even know what genuine people even are, and that's why Gorya attrachs her so much. I believe to Sasha, Gorya is as much a challenge as the persue of what she desperatly wants in her life unconsciently.
Gorya though hates her personality and the way she plays around with people, but when she found her heart being emptied out, she ran to Sasha since she knew about her interest on her... That makes their "arrangement" at the thin line of a proper relationship and a toxic one and I believe that's the real reason their relationship struck me up so much.
Sasha and Gorya are a game of jambled feelings that both like to deny and avoid despite their clear signs of a true connection underneath... I'm literally at the end of my seat whenever they pop up and can't wait to continue following their story, even when both hurt each other, because at this point I believe they are only hurting because they are adamant of not letting the other know they are falling... Because that idea alone is way more scary than they admitting they want and care for each other deeply.
PS: This is a review on the characters themselves, not the actresses! I find all of them great actresses and admire them all as such.
I'm going to be super honest here and say Prim just isn't doing it for me, I really don't know why but her character…
I get you.
When I started this series I have only watched Pluto, so I only knew Namtan and Film, not the rest of the leads, but somehow every episode made me dislike Prim and Bambi a little too much... I mean, I know is the point of the show, to show toxic relationships and such, but I really was surprised when I found myself actually enjoying the show solely for Sasha and Gorya.
I still love and appreciate Namtan's and Film's performances though, I find both great actresses.
Prediction Airy is the ex girlfriend of Zee.She is here to take revenge on Bambi by trying to steal her girlfriend…
Well... I wouldn't go as far as saying that Sasha is cheating, after all she is not in a relationship and Gorya makes sure to remind her of such every single time they interact, but I kinda get your point.
As for Bambi... totally agree. My guess is that she is just doesn't know how to regulate her emotions, she loves too hard and hates too hard, what she did to Prim's father isn't right even coming from a place of good intention and is good that Prim comfronts her about it, but I still believe she overeacted a little with her words... Regardless, that is not an excuse to cheat, I'll never defend such.
Seriously, perfect chemistry, perfect pacing, perfect plot-twists and yes, there is plenty of times that I feel is a GL, but is truly different from anything I have seen so far.
Absolute masterpiece! I'm definitely be watching this again some day.
