The problem is Korean society doesn’t care to actually do any kind of research on any other culture. Producers are definitely too lazy and self centered to hire actors that are not Korean(they may occasionally deal with Thai, Chinese or Japanese). Kpop and Kdramas get a lot of support now from international viewers and they don’t even care to get to know their audiences. So many people are even learning Korean and wanting to visit Korea because of it, but stuff like this makes us want to not bother. Just like SM posted a shat test on Instagram for SHINee fans, you mean to tell me out of all the English speaking people in Korea they couldn’t check to make sure they weren’t posting something inappropriate? With access to the internet they don’t know what shat means? 🥱🙄90% of the comments were laughing so that shows you how big of an audience international fans are but they don’t care and this is only to their detriments. People say they didn’t know better or understand, so tired of that bullshit excuse. In regards to non Asian races, Kpop companies have black producers, choreographers, song-writers, but Idols are still appropriating, doing black face or just being plain unsupportive of the very people they get their music from. This is why I took a break from K entertainment period but to see Korean society still hasn’t learned to not be offensive it’s really no excuse. Now I see why bullying and suicide is at an all time high over there. The whole society is f-uped. They even have so much hatred for themselves and the worst self esteem, no wonder they can’t value and accept others. Such a disgusting society. If they treat their own like trash (Sulli) why would you expect them to treat you any differently? Even I know a large part of their supporters are Islamic. There’s no excuse anymore.

I’m not Arabic/Muslim but if we in the west were to have a show and had a person from Korea depicted as suicidal, going to karaoke and bars, and eating kimchi all day and shown in a negative light, they would be offended. The lack of tact and empathy from commenters supporting this nonsense shows why Korean culture is so toxic ✌🏽🙄
