Title Light on Me
Even though I was team Shinwoo from the get-go and I am happy with how things are seeming to turn out, I can’t help but feel bad for Da On and a lot of people here seem to be way too narrow-minded about his attitude. I would say Taekyung’s character is very rare, especially in Korea, where he seemingly doesn’t care about the consequences tied with dating someone of the same gender. However we cannot hate Da On for simply not wanting to be out (just yet) because everyone is allowed to do it on their own pace. We have to realize Shinwoo has passed the point Da On is currently in and therefore is slightly more honest with his feelings, but even Shinwoo holds a passive attitude because he knows the possible consequences. I think media is an escapism for us but when it comes to these topics it is very natural to be scared, especially if you just figure out such a part of yourself.

I feel like against Da On’s background of being selfishly selfless in order to not hurt people because he is scared it will hurt himself in the process, it is especially hard to come to terms with his feelings. And that is nothing I blame the character for. The only thing it means it that he isn’t the best match for Taekyung because he is in need of someone who is willing to accept his feelings, but it isn’t an attack on his character because it is 100% understandable. If you live a life that consists of pleasing others and fitting into the perfect picture, accepting that you are not fitting into the perfect picture society has created can be extra challenging, especially if that imperfection can lead to bullying, isolation and a lot of disappointment. I think the real people to be mad at here are those two friends, Sohee and her girlfriends and society; not Da On.

As someone who mainly stumbled across BL because of Asian Queer Cinema I can say this series is the closest BL will probably ever be to Queer cinema. No wonder it reminds people of Love of Siam because the story is shot and told in a way that just screams Queer Cinema and I love it. It just so... blows my mind that we are able to get something so cinematically meaningful in what could still be considered “BL”. This truly makes my nerdy ass so happy. Yet at the same time, Asian queer cinema always makes me anxious because it barely ends up with a happy ending. And given from what I heard, a sad ending is fairly possible. However I believe in Nadao’s craft and whatever the ending may be, this is truly a series of quality in every aspect of production and writing. I really hope these kind of series can be the future of Thai BL because believe me that would be such a step for genuine Asian LGBT representation in film and tv rather than just the lighter and younger appeal that “BL” as a whole has.

I don't understand why the rating is this low. I watched up to episode 3 and it's amazing and adorable. We all…
It is mainly a weird system they are using on kisskh atm. It is higher. If you click on the score you see its a 8.3.

I mean I understand people watch (Thai) BL mostly for entertainment, fluff and innocent romance because the (western) media just can’t portray gay romances with happy endings or storylines, so most of the audience these series have are craving for something more lighthearted. However, I see that more Thai BL recently are diving into more serious issues within the LGBT community, and not just make shows for only “fluff”.

And yeah, for people who didn’t come for that at all I understand the frustration, but this is actually a GOOD progression because these storylines actually show the progression Thailand - and other asian countries - are making towards understanding the struggles of LGBT people, and not just using BL for entertainment only. Series with openly gay characters, homophobia, and closeted lgbt people being confused about their sexuality shows the seriousness that is within the issue, instead of just using it for fanservice. And while I get people need to get used to more series being like this, I think it’s refreshing to see this progression.

Therefore, I think next weeks “arc” is actually NEEDED for a realistic portrayal on the issue, even if it goes against people’s likings because it’s not what we want to see, period. It might be painful to get through, but I think it will only make Type’s feelings clearer and might push him into being less internally passive with his emotions, which is a must considering I don’t really see any other option which would really push him over the edge and resolve his mixed feelings.

Yeehaw ????

You don’t know how refreshing it is, especially considering Type’s overall nature, that after the first time they had sex he actually didn’t run away or acted strangely like 99% of people do in BL shows. Quite interesting development, lets see where this goes.

Most people might disagree with me, but I am so happy that we finally have a series with actually flawed characters that recognize their own flaws and each others flaws rather than the lukewarm series that just truly shy away from giving characters any depth just to make the audience pleased. I feel like it’s a good structure to make people engaged with the series, but it takes so much realism away when all characters behave so politically correct or are so blinded by their partners and their own flaws. So I applaude this series for their realistic portray of the characters, because in real life people like Khai (who are too oblivious to notice any signals around them and only use their hearts and never their brains for making any decisions) and Third (people who can’t love themselves enough to get over toxic relationships even how hard they try) exist and it makes this series more enjoyable. But I can understand people not liking it because they grow annoyed of both characters, that’s a way of viewing things and totally fine. But I would love to see more series that take more of a realistic, aware approach rather than just creating characters for the sake of BL and fanservice.

I definitely like the vibe this is going for. You can truly see that BL is getting less “BL-ish” and is looking for professional and gets more of a production tone like normal series. Judging from the first episode, this definitely will be a rollercoaster and the cinemagraphy looks promising. Looking forward to see how they’ll bring this novel to life! :)

We should give them a chance to give us what we want from the season 2 also we need to support Nd give encourage…
Absolutely! I know a lot of people loved the old cast - so did I - but we should treat this as something else, like a different series but the same plotline basically. And the people who are so negative about it, should just not watch it? It’s not that hard...

Does anyone know when they will film or when it might air? Like I know the director just quit, but what were the rumors of this coming out of getting shot?

They might indeed change Pha (and maybe Wayo too) but I don't believe the new rumors since it is really risky and unnessecairly to change ALL the actors (since as far as I know, MingxKit is really popular and it would be a big turnoff for fans if they would be replaced, while there is no specific BIG issue with the actor that play their roles unlike with God). But well.. we have to see what will happen. At least we know season two is really happening, while rumors also had it that was a hoax. I do think it would be quite risky and damaging to replace all, one actor can already do so much for the "shipping", but I am interested to see what direction they will go in. :)
