I thought Jiang Chen in the chinese version was way to mean and too much of a jerk. If i was her i never would…
Yes, you said it very well - I didn’t get in the Korean version why he couldn’t live without her. And the proposal scene lacked emotion, feeling, depth, and chemistry - it was awkward.
I think Jiang Chen was a character with deepset problems connecting with other people and expressing affection.…
Exactly. JC was an immense jerk and very unsympathetic - but his character at the end, when he is sitting on the bench, crying his heart out after he asks her to forgive him and she walks off…then his heartfelt confession that BS had her listening to by phone - that was all him finally humbling himself and admitting he has problems with showing love and being loved - absolutely turning point for his character and for the whole drama - it made everything make more sense. The Korean version, while good, was too watered down and there was really no depth to the characters. It’s a light-hearted version that is good for a binge watch when you want something cute to watch. If you want more then I highly recommend the cdrama.
OFFENSIVE OPINION: JIANG CHEN IN THE CHINESE VERSION WAS A TRUE JERK. AT LEAST HERE, CHA HEON IS LIKEABLE.
True but he also had immense character development by the end - that was the biggest difference between the two. I felt his character in the c-drama was a lot more humble at the end because he was such a jerk at the beginning.
Pretty sure the 23rd was the last episode of regular content and the 24th is just a fun extra like the Chinese…
I felt a lot was missed here with their night together, the next morning, and her parents showing up. All I can say is watch the c-drama. I thought this a Korean version was cute but for those who have not seen the c-drama version, they are left with a lot of questions - if you watch the original, you would have the answers to those questions. If I hadn’t watched the c-drama first, I would not have liked this Korean version much. But because I knew the backstories, I understood it better and could fill in the holes. Overall I thought the Korean version was good. I thought the ML did a great job considering it was his first main role. I’m looking forward to seeing his next role.
Is it just me or did today’s episode seem like the last? Then what does episode 24 contain?
In c-drama at end of ep 23 we see things from ML’s perspective. In Ep 24 it was about what really happened when she went to that singing contest back when she was in school and how ML helped her out. I’m not sure what ep 24 will be with Korean version considering they have not shown the part where everything is shown from his perspective. Guess we’ll know Saturday.
Actually I think they are funny together but I think they will change her character - they will have to - and…
Yes she is really over the top with SH and she is very arrogant but that guy really put her in her place about her awards and resume. Maybe we will see a good change come from that. Even if they don’t get together I’d like to see Mingrui become a good friend to her - she needs one and he seems to have a calming influence on her.
i can see where mingrui is heading and i really dont like it, i really hate her personality. he really deserves…
Actually I think they are funny together but I think they will change her character - they will have to - and he seems to be scared/sympathetic towards her. He kind of admires her spunk yet dislikes her arrogance. I think the guy coming down on her about her resume really made an impact on her.
She didn’t call him either. She’s is just as much at fault. Her character is really immature - she doesn’t…
Yes this is the original episode 24. If you look at the original A Love So Beautiful - there are only 23 episodes. They may have the synopsis wrong but it is about the singing contest she went to - they mention it in the drama but we never see what really happened - until the special episode. I was probably confusing this episode with what happened at the end of 23 - I remember the scenes from his point of view but I also remembered this special episode they made - if you’ve seen them both then that is all there is.
She and he both had a very bad day that day. He lost a patient and she was sexually assaulted. Then she learned…
I have no doubt if she had told him about the assault he would have went and beat up the guy! I always hate these time skips - 3 years is a LONG time and a bit unreasonable for us, the audience, to believe. Especially in this day and age where we have internet and cell phones and video calls. There is really no reason why they could not have had a long-distance relationship while he was training. And they both could have flown to each other to visit at least 2 times a year - he could have flown to Korea once a year and she could have went to the US once a year - every six months - but to make them be apart for 3 years with no communication whatsoever really doesn’t make sense to me. Course I know it’s for the storyline but if I loved someone for as long as she has, I’d have found a way to make it work. I might have been upset at first but it’s not like he wasn’t going to discuss it with her - I think because she asks him if he even considered her feelings in the decision and he doesn’t answer - I don’t think his lack of response meant he didn’t -I think he didn’t answer because he was hurt that should would even think that about him - we know he meant to talk to her about it because he told her he had something he wanted to discuss with her - unfortunately she heard about it before he had a chance to tell her - and remember, he originally told his boss he wasn’t going to go because of her. He never wanted to leave her. A lot of this is coming back to me as I remember some of the cdrama. I should go back and rewatch the last 3-4 episodes again. Lol.
She didn’t call him either. She’s is just as much at fault. Her character is really immature - she doesn’t…
I did get the timing wrong - someone else corrected me about that. I didn’t remember it correctly because it’s been a while since I watched the c-drama. I think they needed this catalyst though so we can see how they eventually talk it all,out and become stronger because of it. We see a real character change for ML from this point on. He never thought she’d leave him so he was devastated by this. I think it really humbled him - I believe that he loved her but he was a bit arrogant in thinking he was her world and he’d never lose her. She put him on a pedestal and when he didn’t respond the way she wanted, she realized he wasn’t perfect and I think it shocked her. Now they can heal and become better partners for each other. It’s all good. I learn a lot from all the comments. It’s good to see things from other’s views.

I know right? And it’s actually realistic because so many couples even in real, life don’t communicate well. I think the c-drama also had a special episode where the whole thing was narrated from his point of view only - I think that may be what you are referring to? I am just looking forward to the last episode - I am wondering if they will follow the cdrama with the apartment scene…..lol

I guess I got the timing wrong - I thought it was 1-1/2 years. Thank you for clarifying. I had forgotten about the phone being thrown into the lak as well. Lol now that you said that I remember that scene. Yes, it didn’t make sense he would leave as soon as he saw her with him - you’d think as long as they dated they would not be so insecure with each other but we hear him pour out his insecurities to 2ML when they get drunk. He says he never understood why she loved him - he didn’t think he was lovable. It was really sad but that was a great turning point in his character. I never understood either how someone who was so head over heels in love with the same guy for over 10+ years could be so stubborn and prideful. She’d rather lose him than admit she was wrong as well? It would be different if he was dating around, treating her like he hated her, but he comes back all with the mindset to make up -he’s never stoped loving her and it shows. She should humble herself a little bit. A relationship is give and take. I love reading everyone’s responses. I learned a few things from you all.
She didn’t call him either. She’s is just as much at fault. Her character is really immature - she doesn’t…
It wasn’t the first time she did this though. She gets mad at him and won’t even talk to him for days. So yes, as someone who is in her mid 20’s at this point she shouldn’t be acting like a 15 year old. She was acting like a child when it came to cutting him off, ignoring him and not even giving him a chance to sit down with her and talk things over. I’m not unsympathetic to her assault but he didn’t know about it. She also didn’t know about his patient dying too - that was traumatic for him as well. They both should have calmed down, stepped back, and talked. He tried over and over to call her, text her, see her but, like a child, she moved and didn’t even tell him, didn’t respond to his texts, and didn’t answer his calls. He had to make a decision and since she wasn’t willing to talk about it, he made it and left. What you don’t see in this version is he actually comes back to see her a few months later but in the airport he sees her with 2ML so he thinks she is with him and he leaves again. Also in the cdrama, he does his 3 year work in 1-1/2 years - he works his butt off and learns it in half the time so he can come back to her quicker. In the meantime, she does absolutely nothing to reach out to him. Nothing. So it’s hard to feel sympathy for her in this aspect. Just my opinion.
Correction - he was supposed to be gone 4 years but he did his work in 3 years. I got the timing wrong.
