the concept behind the character was that it was her maid that had sunburned. I personally thought it was humorous and did not find it offensive.

Article SBS drama "Joseon Exorcist" has been cancelled due to controversy!
I was looking forward to watching this, not for the historical aspect but for its entertainment value. I have seen many dramas and movies that simply add a disclaimer to emphasize that the portrayal is not historically accurate and for entertainment purposes only. A blunt cancellation is a huge dent in their revenue through viewers.
