Even I was thinking the same when he wanted to go back. But I think it's more like he wanted to give a proper goodbye and a closure to his ex. Anyways I'm sure he has no plans of reuniting with his ex no matter what. Also he's returning back to Bora as in preview.

It was all well and good until Soo Hyuk received the call from his ex. When he decided to go I was like what seriously? Instead of making the leads together where's this story going? But I think he'll go meet her, clear things out and gives a proper closure to that chapter and returns back to Bora( as we can see that in the preview). And the rest will be super interesting.
