He was lied too by his wife, his children do not respect him, his own boss gave a position to him and gave it to someone else, his ex girlfriend never told him about his daughter and his mother uses him as her own personal trophy (he is literally the most abused character in the drama wtf). remember it was his wife that set the tables that the daughter died and kept that secret away from him.

Out of all the comments I believe you have the most realist view of how I felt of the show as well. The writers did a poor job of making us feel bad for some characters.. my other complaint was how they wrote almost all the men as basically incompetent , over the top, and dumb despite being high level doctors and teachers

I agree - the Japanese version of this show (not as good) but made some of the characters more likable

Unlike Westen jobs - finding more efficient and profitable ways, finding snakes in the company, and outperforming senior staff can lead you to being reprimanded, isolated, or even fired. Media is truly an outlet for the Japanese without blow back from the government.

There are many faithful Japanese couples. The problem is many people are getting their views of Japan from youtube and tiktok doing street interviews on the streets of Harajuku and Shibuya crossing which is not a proper depiction of Japan.

Spoiler - in the Manga the girl who is 16 lies she is in her 20s because she is attracted to the guy who is now 40. This girl is believed to be the daughter of wife.
