Hmm...its just personal preference. As everyone has different taste. I didn't like it. That's that. How about…
I never really thought about doing reviews but I might try my hand at some in the future. I'm an all around drama fan, having watched chinese, taiwanese, thai, korean, and japanese dramas. But I did initially start with japanese dramas tho. My first drama being Great Teacher Onizuka (1998). In jdramas, I love the variety in their content as suppose to other dramas that tend to feel too similar to one another, whether it's filled to the brim with tropes that echo from drama to drama making them feel too similar, or beautiful people being eye candy for the sake of rating even tho sometimes their acting is god awful, and endings you see coming from a mile away. Jdramas do sometimes suffering from what i listed but not as nearly enough as other dramas. And the fact that other asian countries make their own adaptation from japanese intellectual properties, speak volume to how creative they are and have always been. So in that aspect, I feel you might be right when you say i'm more of a jdrama fan but I do enjoy my kdramas just about the same, others not as much.

I understand everyone has different taste and interest but for me, when I like something and I see it getting negative critique, I feel the need to defend it, some call it a defense mechanism. It's not that I'm trying to change your mind or anything, I simply just want to give you my perspective on the drama and what I observed. As for the the great seducer, I haven't got the chance to watch that drama as of yet. I have a long list of dramas to watch so I doubt I'll be viewing it anytime soon.
This drama is a guilty pleasure that come across as a slice of life character-driven stories which usually can conflict with plot driven stories. But diving in, nobody is perfect in this but instead each character is a flawed and damaged individual with heavy issues slowly changing one another untimely for the best and that's what intrigued me. Yes the certain characters bend to their base desires but what human doesn't at times of need, after all SEX is important and has always been important in human biology and relationships so it shouldn't call for stigmatization but celebration of a bonding. You asked if Terada has any self respect? At first she didn't, she even described herself as being weak at times, life after high school for her became mundane and she felt left behind by her friends who were advancing in life and her boyfriend who cheated on her then dumped her so I can understand her psyche after hitting bottom and feeling like you have nothing to really live for or aspire too. And she had admitted to Hase that she was being selfish after she broke up with him so your just reiterating her self analysis, and by all means after all the drama she's been though she's can be selfish when it come to her needs and sense of happiness. Say what you want about Hongyo but it doesn't change the fact that he was the most desired man in the show. He's considered a genius writer that really dedicated his mind, body, and soul to his work until his body gave out wink wink. Hongyo is obviously the stoic type who knows what he wants and why he wants it but can't articulate how he feels. He also tends to respectful of others and often listen and follow other's request, like when Terada ask him not to do anything weird to her when they sleep together. Or when Kuritani asked him on a date which he instantly agreed too. Or when Hase told him to finish his novel without any distractions in which he shut off everyone including Terada whom he was officially dating at the time. Each character has their weakness and it's even exploited at times and gives them this sense of being real flawed humans beings which really attracted me to this drama, it's so poetic how they could've all ended up on bad terms yet they accept each other instead flaws and all and continue to live together. I'm sorry you couldn't enjoy this drama the way I did. Always seek the poetry between the lines.
This drama started off strong and ended so weak...How do you botch such a intriguing concept only to leave me scratching my head in confusion...So many unanswered questions and unfulfilled character conclusions ...I know some people are satisfied with this ending but they could have done it WAY better than this. ..It's a shame but not even Strong Woman Park Bo Young could save this drama for me...This gets a 5/10 from me
Honestly it's a little grey but I think the old man with the trolly full of boxes helped him come back with his own personally abyss which honestly came out of left field.
Ikr? The best dramas and movies for me are low rated here in MDL. Can't understand people sometimes.
I figure most people that watch these dramas can't handle a tragic bittersweet story compare to and upbeat conventional love story., but that's just my humble opinion on the matter. I loved these types dramas bc I feel they invoke more emotions than your average trope filled drama not that there's anything wrong with them.
I blame Hong Seo Jung mother for bringing Hwang Dae Doo soul back knowing very well that it would lead to many deaths and the world being plunged into hell. Did she seriously think that her and her shaman assistance wouldn't be murdered afterwards???...That was one of my main gripes with this drama. I do love a good tragic story tho, it really brings out the feels for me. Although I know the two kids at the end is suppose to represent Kang Pil Sung and Hong Seo Jung but I rather see them as the young detective and his pregnant fiancee bc technically Kang Pil Sung committed suicide even tho it was for the greater good. Suicide is suicide and they should abide by the rules that they set in place, meaning he can't come back. Overall I did love this heartbreaking drama and hope they make more similar to this.
I'm so excited about this can't wait!!!! plus I'm so glad Jung So Min and Seo In Guk will appear as cameos :)
Just a theory but I think Jung and Seo are gonna be what the MLs originally looked like before meeting their untimely death only to be revived as Park and Ahn. I could be wrong but after watching "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes" how can they not go that route.
Um... am I really the only person on this planet that didn't find it funny at all?
Humor is subjective. I assure you, your probably not the only person who didn't see the humor in this drama...Can't say the the same for myself but I can definitely understand where your coming from, seeing how I had similar reactions to other dramas.
Despite that this drama is light and funny .... let's talk about a serious issue with this drama.I know that kdrama…
I'm sorry you feel that way but in the end that's just a part of their culture, these dramas are made for their entertainment not ours, we just have the pleasure of viewing them, thanks to them outsourcing and subbers. Any issues you have with the way they portray a group of people will fall on deaf ears bc our personal issues and grievous don't concern them in the least. It's better to not take these kdramas so serious cause you'll only make yourself mad. Bottomline is I've seen many kdramas where they had queerbaiting moments for comedic purposes to the point that it's a well known trope in these dramas, and I don't think it's going to be going away no time soon.
How will I make it through this movie without my favorite character in the series?
One scene at a time...
