When Wattpad comes to life...(Not a review, only yapping)
First of all u need to know that this is an adaptation of a Wattpad novel and hence it will be unrealistic and absurd at times.. Also i have heard that book 1 came in 2016 so some outdated cringy lines are obviously to be encountered..Secondly, the only dark thing about this is the messed up family relationships and how they have portrayed the lives of highschoolers.. Also the way it has included all kinds of topics ranging from teenage pregnancy to LGBTIQ community..
Most of them are new actors but that doesn't mean it's a free pass for them to act bad... Aren't ppl guiding them??
Anyways,
Story/Plot:
=Friendship
The only good thing about the plot is the friendship between Jay-Jay , C-in and David.. Cause only this relationship felt like it was genuine.. Most of the time it was forced.. Jay-Jay being close with other section e boys was kind of forced.. I understand her bond with Felix , calix ,etc.. but not with mayo, kit or anyone else..
Why do they listen/obeys to jay - jay so easily whenever she tell/ explains them something?? Like i haven't seen their bond and hence it's weird to see them comfortably discuss their private topics with her..
The major issue is that they tried to portray section e as one big unit when it clearly isn't.. In start it may seem so but it's not ..
The boys didn't even care to visit the restaurant guy despite them being 'close' until she asked about it.. What kind of friends are they.. C-In is lonely too but nobody cares.. Kit and Mayo weren't able to come out cause they didn't feel comfortable enough...
Drew asking Jay-Jay money.. others coming to her to solve their problems.. stealing her food constantly.. and most of them didn't even apologize to her for bullying her at the start.. Like what!!! And Denzel.. do i even need to say? They can't give good/genuine advice to their friends..
That's why i feel most of relationships here are forced..
=Sensitive topics
Don't be offended by the word sensitive.. i just didn't know how to label them..
but how lightly have they shown teen pregnancy ... and Denzel is a red flag.. Even calix.. why would u cheat!!
Kit and mayo's part too like they should have deeply explored their struggles as they come out to their friends and family... But no all of them were for the spice and nothing else..
Also I don't understand how high school kids are drinking and doing what not when are barely 18!!! too unrealistic
Yuri/Kiefer:
At first u will be confused whether Yuri is better for for JJ or Kiefer but later it becomes obvious who to chose..
The answer is herself.. if i was in her place i would changed school ages ago and never turn back again but since it's JJ I understand.. All three of them aren't sane in their heads.. I only like JJ because she has good personality.. however Yuri and Kiefer are definitely selfish people..
But i don't understand how do ppl even like Yuri in the first place? He is manipulative and what not? I honestly didn't even need the book spoilers to chose Kiefer but when i knew what's gonna happen in books 2 and 3 i realized my choice is never wrong..
JJ shouldn't chose both but since she has to it's better that she is with Kiefer.. All three of them should go to therapy before getting into a relationship...
= Characters :
I love C-in and David . Poor JJ is stuck among fools.. ( I want JJ and David together cause she deserves someone sensible like him.
Aries and Angelo are annoying at times.. love Freya though.. Ella is also confusing me cause she herself is confused..
JJ should first solve her own issues before fixing/ meddling into other ppl's lives..
Acting
No comments.... i mean only JJ's was good.. she carried it.. When she cried after getting her by the balls or during haunted house or after beating up that guy ( sorry i forgot) or in last ep.. i felt it but.. but omg Kiefer's acting was unsympathetic.. Like I felt no emotion.. Yuri being angry is the funniest..
How it could have been better?
They could have done must better adaptation of the work.. obviously the Wattpad writer is not a professional and hence to make it into series they should made corrections or had a different approach to the story. Like there are so many elements left unexplored.. According to me they should have not included JJ's step father line and Percy if there was not going to be much to the story.. or else they should have ended the series at different point where we have more idea about the new characters.. Percy was given screentime so it's fine.. but i forgot abt the whole step father thing until i saw an edit recently. I Feel many plots were introduced in a short span of time.. and most of them was left unexplored like Denzel and Grace, Kit and Mayo, etc.
Paying attention to the acting.. like whenever Edrix showed up it was funny cause why is he typing like that, lmao.. The first fight segment when Jay-Jay got caught following cause why were fighting like that..
The only reason i gave this a 8 is cause it was entertaining and my expectations were very low initially..
Overall:
It's definitely a fun watch if u want to have good time.. U must need to make some adjustments to your brain before watching this cause normal logic can't be applied to understand this series..

The series is quite slow-paced... I personally do like slow paced dramas if the plot is good.. But here the storyline was the most basic.. Only one unique point was that the second - lead couple don't end up together cause That's not usually the case.. So with most basic plot the actors did an amazing job at making it bearable to watch. I am strictly against watching dramas in 2x or skipping 10 secs but here i had to go against my principle. From ep 6 - 10 i nearly skipped everything except 2nd couple and ML's brother's scene. The main couple did have chemistry in first ep but then i stopped feeling the spark.
There's nothing crazy abt it other than fact that we have our two fav villains in contrast role.
Waste of time definitely but the visuals were too good. Other than story everything else is perfect ..

Closest realistic portrayal of emotions in apocalypse??
After all of us are dead i was craving for something similar and then i found this.. It doesn't come close to that but does its work to engage me in the plot...Story is the problem not the actors nor production.
The reason its a bit realistic is because how the students handle the situation and their motive behind taking part in the military training..
Overall it's just a cliche of all other apocalypse dramas.. Though the cause of apocalypse and how they deal with it is different other elements remains the same.
I did not go with the expectation that it would be like AOUAD, i knew it would be different, hence i was not disappointed but it felt too cliched.
What makes watching DAS worth is its slightly unique and realistic approach towards fighting the apocalypse.

Do not watch it with a mindset that its gonna be like Weak Hero Class 1!
Perfect blend of comedy and action. Action sequences are exaggerated which adds to the comedic genre of the series.Must watch if u like high-school action dramas + humor. Rewatched it twice already...
Alert: Since its a webtoon drama u should know the 2nd season ain't coming soon. The series ends on good note so u are not actually left hanging..
