Guys, recently chinese historical drama has been relased. Bromance, it had very bad subtitles. Unfortunately I…
Yeah, Towards the Truth. I didn’t find it bromance type as such -it just wasn’t focused on any romance. So many dramas get labeled bromance just because they involve men as mains. This is a sleuthing / mystery drama with 2 messed up ML’s learning to trust each other and a FL who has conflicted background. Dark drama, really worth the watch for both the plot and superb acting. A gateway from the usual C-drama tropes.
This may sound harsh but it is needed. A) ageism is your problem, not the actor or series and so you should refrain from writing a review based on your shortfalls B) she is no older than her male couterparts, and if she was younger then people like you would whinge about age gap! She definitely doesn’t look 40. If I look like that when I get to 40 I’d be super stoked! Also, why are you not picking on male actors? They are of similar age!!! Or are you also sexist and more lenient towards males??? C) perhaps you should stick to mini series filled with very young actors where acting isn’t as important as looks and heavy make up. D) please spell check before you post, when you already come across as an ageist, sounding uneducated doesn’t help your review look anything but ridiculous. I am fed up with people giving low marks based on their personal shallow prejudice. It does the show huge disservice and makes me feel like humans will never emerge from Neanderthal age. So, please either zip it or write reviews which are about the show, not you.
Amazing drama. Shame about the subtitles, but it forced me to Wikipedia the era to death to get familiar with the events and characters, which helped immensely and now I have quite in depth knowledge of that part of Ming history. Also, the events in the drama are pretty much in line with the historic facts, the only fictional parts are personal relationships and personalities - no accurate history of that of course, and so left to the screenwriter’s interpretation. Done so beautifully, a very emotional journey through era of first 3 emperors of Ming dynasty. EPIC
This is a must watch if you want a refreshing break from predictable romance series. It’s super! Needs more audience so the cast and the screenwriters get the recognition and support they deserve. Alas subs are poor by iQ standard, but not as bad as MG, I didn’t loose thread at any time. 😊😊
Totally agree, the subtitles were a bit of a let down, but everything else…. I felt so refreshed after watching this one, too many predictable candy dramas lately, this cinematography style is right up my street, wish there was more demand for them and people gave them good ratings so that more are written and produced.
Disgusting. Abuse from any gender is not romantic. Change in behaviour in episode 12 is bull..t. I can’t believe that people actually gave this high ratings. What if it was in reverse, him giving her black eyes and humiliating her for 12 episodes? I am confident people would not find that acceptable and reviews would be scathing. 💩
I have a Mango subscription and can’t find General Well. Does anyone know if it’s not being broadcast in the…
I found it under ‘Nancheng Banquet’

I am so glad you liked the ML - I saw him in Rebel princess and he left a deep impression. Just as Zhang Ruo Yun, he does not have to rely on the “candy” looks, being an accomplished actor - I knew that this drama is going to be good. Makes such a refreshing change to watch something so grainy, dreamy and well acted, compared to the usual fodder of dramas dependent on actors appearances rather than content. 💖
Excuse me? It’s my first time seeing him in a drama and I think he has what it takes to take on leading roles…
Everyone has different tastes when it comes to looks. But I strongly disagree with your SML comment, you suggest that only the candy like boys being deemed as fit for ML regardless of their skills which is not only detrimental to the C-drama quality but also has negative impact on ordinary crowd, promoting denial of natural beauty, healthy bodies and low self worth, promoting plastic surgery in order to be deemed attractive. LYN is talented and deserved ML roles. Example, Zhang Rouyin is amazing, way better actor than e.g. Xiao Zhen , but hasn’t picture perfect looks. I would be crushed if he was relegated to SML roles, just because of shallow netizens, his dramas never fail to keep me riveted to the seat. Interestingly, C-dramas which don’t feature the candy floss actors are often the best ones for quality of acting, script, content, delivery and cinematography
