Mediocre writing, but almost everything else is quite extraordinary!
MAME seems to be one of the most controversial or even disliked writers/creators in the T-drama space. Though since LbD came into being some people have been defending her due to this work. I'm of the opinion that LbD being actually quite great has very little to do with the writing, though admittedly the dialog has its moments at times, but at the end of the day the plot has very little complexity, novelty, or perhaps even ehm abundance in it & the one time the script needed a little subtlety to achieve a smooth transition in the plot, it was significantly botched. (the fight in e5 to trigger a typical reverse wooing scenario)
Anyway the one thing the writer has actually done right is that -other than the one aforementioned hiccup- the typical makjang/trash lakorn plots, scenes are down to a minimum. Noble idiocy sucks, but we got it out of the way in e1, the combat scenes may be rather silly, but also there is very few of them & they are short. Maybe due to random chance or due to the very short format somehow most of the pitfalls of this genre have been sidestepped. I could go on and on picking apart the minutia of the plot, how the FL's time travel has not been utilized at all etc, anyway I'm stopping here.
Everything else is great. The 3 main actors were wonderful, yes Pheem can be considered that too I suppose. The supporting actors also had game. Casting that works this well is extraordinarily rare. The romance is well above the GL average too.
The OST in a vacuum would not amaze, but the sound editing is close to flawless. So basically this is the best GL I've seen to far audio-visually speaking.
Objectively 9/10 may seem a bit high, but dramas this entertaining are increasingly rare, so it is what it is.
