I would say it's open to interpretation. SPOILERS BELOW. he does say he's dying and she's the last person he sees, BUT 1) the passing out thing happens to him on the regular 2) he finds a four leaf Clover meaning he's finally lucky at last and 3) we see the car HE drives on the road which means either he's the one driving it or the FL learned to drive, which she didn't btw.

father can't communicate and he's struggling to come to terms with the fact that he's not his real son. if he could just communicate the ML wouldn't leave the house lol. I think it's his pride as well. he doesn't know how to reach out first.

when I saw his backstory I realised there's literally no need to find the sperm donor. all he wanted was acknowledgement and love from his father.
