It's also weird to me that they're trying to protect and save evil people while keeping innocent people die left and right.
The ending would be better if the King get the consequences he deserved. He is not a loving father nor a good ruler despite the film trying to make the audience feel some pity for him.

Agree I'm not also satisfied with the way they handle things. They are fine with killing innocent people, but they're DESPERATELY trying to protect the evil ones.
The ending was unsatisfactory and characters who should get what they deserved survived at the end.
