Looks like the amnesia is still ongoing? I dunno why but I just find this trope so off putting. I put WDBD on hold when that happened and ended up just dropping it in the end.
I saw another version of this drama, but I forgot the name. I like them both. I have seen a lot of Xanxia, wuxia,…
In term of why they cultivate, I guess because they could 😅? From my observation, a lot of these stories are mash up of traditional philosophies like Taoism, Buddhism, Confucianism with fantasy/superpower elements eg Marvel etc.

Haha I’m just a normal watcher like yourself, so everything i know is from watching all the different dramas. My thoughts on your questions are: Cultivation required a lot of knowledge, time and resource, so joining a sect is probably the easiest way to do it. Anytime power and resource are involved, human emotion will come into play, which is why corruption in seemingly noble sects are a common theme in costume dramas. This is especially in Asian dramas because culturally it’s very rigid and hierarchical, so dramas and stories become outlet to question these practices.
🤣 it would be so much fun just to spite XJS but i guess he wouldnt care a dime
Haha true, fun scene tho in ep26. I thought it’s shaping up into a SA scene then suddenly it’s romantic BGM, next minute they r giving each other home truths and slugging it out.
