I agree with this view even tho it was watching the drama that got me watching the donghua. The donghua tells a more cohesive and linear story whereas the drama adds more details including some that might have happen off screen in the donghua, but can feel like it jump around in certain part. I do like being able to put a human face to some of the characters as the character design in donghua makes it difficult for me to differentiate them sometimes.
