MDL needs to realize that light, cute and funny doesn't necessarily mean dumb. The theme of the drama - examining…
Sounds interesting. π€ I want to watch it because I am a fan of both leads but all the "annoying and pathetic FL" and "weird and cringe comedy" comments brought me down and painted a negative picture in my mind. Now that I think about it, especially after reading this comment about exploring various themes and romance (noona romance where both ML and FL protect each other is my kind of romance), it sounds like writers tried doing something new. I will give it a go when it finishes airing. Thanks for a good short review. Helped a lot.
I rated it exactly an 8. I found the casting and the acting to be absolutely top of the heap but wasn't quite…
I see. Makes sense with building up your ratings from 0 rather than deducing from 10. Looks like I do not view it in a way you're looking at it. I personally wasn't watching it to be surprised or thrilled since it's no mystery and thriller drama and the basic plot has been repeated many times in countless stories. I was there for experience and how they executed it. That's how I was viewing it. I was there for character themselves and to look how well they're written. I get where are you pointing at when you said "characters themselves run towards the danger". I wasn't very impressed by that either but I can also see why writer thought it necessary to write that way. Plus, it shows the desperation, flaws and other emotions of that character that is far more interesting to me to watch than "characters playing it safe". We have smart characters for that. That is how I viewed it that time and moved on. But, it's understandable others won't like it or won't buy the more emotional aspect of the story. I bought the pain and struggle of characters and found the writing for character development was way better in this one so I thought it's more than 8 that time. I have finished it since then and my rating would drop a little bit from 9 to 8 but for completely other reasons (that I think can't be explained here).
Wow I didn't know what this old man did when I watched 2 of the dramas where he is a villain. Only learned now who he was when I saw people were complaining about casting him in a censored BL I am interested in. He is a real life villian still getting roles lol. Can't even remember those dramas I have watched in a positive light anymore.
Is this really worth 7.8 and not higher? I thought first 6 episodes were decent enough. What's up with rating of kdramas these days on this site? Main reviews were already unreliable.
What's with dramas sugarcoating women's infidelity nowadays? qot and now this
I don't view it that way and nowhere it said what she did was right. Drama only showed what actually went down in their marriage and how she cheated at the end. I would say the good thing about how it all went was how husband didn't see wife for the last time and even she didn't get to see him. That will leave a long lasting guilt in her heart.
The only thing that I found unfair is husband ceased to exist. Looked like writers wanted to show how dedicated he was towards his duty which is fine but he deserved to move on to afterlife happily. He only managed to get over his obsession with his wife but then he disappeared.
Do they really drop the ball in the second half with the writing? I want to watch this but comments such as the…
As the other person said, this drama leans more towards the "chill" and "slice of life" category, so if you want to have chill drama with a little bit of mystery, this is it.
If you're asking if they dropped the ball in 2nd half, I don't know how and I don't see why others are saying it, but to me, it looks like the writing is pretty solid with no loose ends. Writers knew what they're writing and what's their goal. They do not give bubblegum conlcusion to every character just for the sake of it and I felt a sense of realism in the consequences characters face. There is no unnecessary hiding information for the sake of drama or toxicity; romance is quite solid - open communication, lots of skinship, no breakups, good chemistry; no love traingle; good plot twists that make sense etc. I personally love both male and female lead and their personalities, ngl.
Rest depends on you. Afterall, the experience is subjective.
How is it only at 8? I am watching this and at ep 15. I can tell, unlike many other kdramas, writer in this one actually knows what they're doing with their characters and not popping out new subplots just for the sake of plot twists. They are brave enough to give bad ending and not sugarcoat things to end. The plot is not rushed at all and even the characters, all of them are extremely well written and there's no toxicity, useless breakups between characters. 2nd half especially brings in good plot twists and feels fulfilling/satisfying.
She is definitely an amazing actress. I just finished watching 'My Perfect Stranger' and came here just to find she was also the female lead of 'Secret Life of My Secretary'. I am not bad at remembering actresses when they act good but I didn't recognised her at all. She literally changed her demeanor, speaking style, mannerism from one drama to next. And yet, she was in From Now On, Showtime and I couldn't detect she was that feisty detective. Damn, she is good at her craft.
Well, I liked it! Not a masterpiece but knows how to write their story drawing parallels between past and present and making character arcs that lasts for 1500 years. Quite poetic, I must say. They didn't make it too unrealistic and didn't fall for sweet rom-com clichè. Ep. 10-11 dragged a bit but it got back on track in ep 12. Should've included more antagonistic scenes to show their process and which reflect the depth of their motive. It was based on main lead POV and they sticked to it to the end.
Who ever gave their review for 12 episodes in the first one isn't accurate enough and seems like they forgot the details for all the complaints they made. I urge you to not trust that review completely.
Go for the drama if you want to watch something simple and not too confusing, focused on main lead narrative; consistent theme and logical ending. Otherwise, free to skip.
do i need to watch season 1 in order to watch season 2
Yeah, you do. Some side plots which were left unfinished in season 1 were carried out in season 2. You won't understand the rules of magic and worldbuilding of season 2 if you haven't watched season 1. You also won't get why a character act like this or that because season 2 carries the events that ended in season 1.
This list is filled with biased opinions rather than actual awful dramas spoken as someone who dropped a couple…
I read them too sometimes. These reviews work for me with specific conditions. I always have to look for poor reviews and see if all the reviwers are making similar criticism for me to trust what people are saying is true. However, still it turned out that I do not like every top rated drama and there are dramas which went under the radar but they have some good storytelling. There's just no way of telling it's 100% accurate.
Was looking into some good kdramas on internet and my eyes fell on list section of this site. After going through this list, it looks more like the list where dramas on top were the most hyped and popular ones and thus, it ended up disappointing more people. As I moved down the list, I begun finding dramas I never heard about before or extremely popular ones sharing similar genre of romance, comedy, slice of life and youth.
Haven't watched that many dramas this year but from those I have watched except the more darker ones like glory, they're not bad at all. Plot progressions is good enough, characters have decent arcs, what else do we need? Some of them have that classic, old kdrama vibes. For the most popular ones which are also well-made, I personally believe it depends on perspective and personal taste.
For someone looking for actual bad dramas to avoid, this list isn't that accurate. :/
(Saying for those 5-7 dramas I have watched that aired this year but this is what I observed. Ratings seems to be more on the basis of what viewers personally liked vs actual accurate, least biased ratings).
of course I'm not expert about acting, but for me Kim Young Dae is doing pretty good job. yes, his face doesn't…
Agree. I don't understand the complaints either. There's no moment where he need to cry like a broken lover and when placed in a situation where his character needs to be hesitating, he portrays it well. The character is serious, almost "emotion=weak", grew in an environment where he is a literal killing machine. In fact, I wondered how is he even going to look menancing and scary with idol like visuals.
Maybe I don't really understand the scenes and would like to learn about other people perspectives.
Episode 4 got me in the feels, really love how they build up their story and complex relationship, past and present.…
Best description of this drama. Doha is murderous, full of rage and evil smirks. Young Hwa be like "Do you have a fever?" like this is some high school romance. If I were Doha, I would have laughed out loudly.

That's why I doubted this list.
