Yes, later in the series, they might explain. Because they made a few changes in the series. But in the novel, Khem was reincarnated as a man only in the present timeline. And it wasn't specifically mentioned that the curse ends with Khem. Because the novel was focused mostly on rescuing Khem from the curse. But if Ramphueng took Khem's soul his soul would be with Ramphueng and wouldn't be able to reincarnate again. Because all the other male descendants' souls are with Ramphueng.
