When I watched the first part of this drama, I enjoyed it - however, I was in the right mood to watch such a light-hearted procedural drama. I also didn't like the sound effect for Hiratsuka tapping his temple. I put it on hold for a bit and when I decided the finish the second half, I enjoyed it a lot more than I did for the first half. I really like it when a drama doesn't take itself too seriously & the chemistry between Saionji, Hiratsuka, and Kaneda was on point. Also, I appreciated that they showed Saionji's growth as a detective and partner to Hiratsuka, rather than staying an airhead. I'm surprised this isn't based on a manga, because Hiratsuka's gestures and catchphrases each time seemed like it.
I fell in love with Ryoma Takeuchi after watching his portrayal in Yell for the Blue Sky, so I was really looking forward to this. I was actually pleasantly surprised. Each episode was like a stand alone short. The only thing that tied the episodes together were the curry references and Ryoma filming a taiga drama. I was expecting a simple light-hearted slice of life, however this drama tackled more genres with a different themes each time and I thought they did a pretty good job. I also liked the cameos of the different actors I wasn't expecting to see here.
I ended up really like the theme of the drama & rating it higher than I thought I would. Koshiba Fuka reminded me of a young playful kiss era Jung Somin during this drama.
