There is a short drama series tie-in to the film called The Confidence Man IG. It stars Igarashi. I'd love to find out how to watch it or at least read the plot of all the episodes.
I wouldn't exactly call this necessary viewing to get the main series (besides watching episode 10 for the story's conclusion). However, I think watching all these episodes is important in letting Kazunori Harumi's message to Dojima Otaro about parallel worlds sink in. Otaro's actions didn't just lead to Sato Saiko's death at the wedding. His greedy ambition was a major reason why she died in 20+ alternate universes. We see how those universes turn out after her death, and it's mostly ugly.
People might argue the behavior of the other characters in Todome no Parallel are their true personality, but I believe Otaro's time manipulation for self-service brought out the worst in his colleagues, as seen in the alternate universes he left behind. When people get baffled at why Otaro would go back in time but not try to be with Saiko, it makes sense to me. He understood the damage that he had done, and that it couldn't be fixed with a mere confession. Simply living in a world where Saiko still existed was enough for him.
Is there a version of this with only the English sub? I see two languages overlayed on top of each other.
Thanks for sharing. I'll probably hold off in hopes of finding raw or just English sub in HD somewhere, but you're sharing a precious resource for a drama that deserves to be watched for decades to come.
A timeless masterpiece. I've seen this drama 4 times. I always give re-viewings a few years gap to not overexpose myself to a work; I like to forget the details and experience it with a fresh view later. However, this is one of the rare stories that I find myself constantly thinking about for years after I've experienced it.
