I love that this show looked into issues that I haven't seen in the K-dramas I watched before, such as eating disorder, selective mutism, unconventional female body type, casual sex, and being an immigrant from the US. Jin-Heon and Sam-Soon's kiss in the bar was amazing and so sensual. There are some things that happen in this show that I don't think are acceptable in society today, such as manipulative behavior by the male lead and the unwanted kiss by a minor pair in the final episode, but there are so many great moments in this show.
If you are interested in this show, just know that these 3 parts are not meant to be the full series, but only make up the first season. As far as I know, season 2 has not been confirmed. The writers and producers are hoping for a season 2, but the show had a high budget with only middling domestic (South Korean) ratings. The actors would also have to commit to return for more seasons. There's are many hurdles to overcome for a second season. Rumors are going around that season 2 and 3 are coming because of an Instagram account announcement, but that is not Arthdal Chronicles' verified account and the news is not supported by any trustworthy sources.
I loved the flashback setting. The characters, the stakes of what they were fighting for, their friendship, and the atmosphere were so well done! And the flashbacks helped advance the story rather than make them more confusing.
I thought Dako was a fantastic character and Nagasawa Masami did a great job portraying her cheeky, exuberant personality. I treated her character like something you'd see in a manga or anime brought to real life. For people who aren't aware, this series is episodic and there is no real plot or character progression. There's also no romance at all. However, each episode is very entertaining and there are even some touching moments in their various cons.
I saw Running Man 123 and 124, which had Go Soo and Han Hyo-Joo as guests. They were so funny so I wanted to see their work. Lucky for me they were in this movie! I laughed a lot at this movie's scene where they talk about his wife in the car.
