Why is having fun here with this drama conditional on Zhang Jingyi being the main lead of this drama? Surely you can have fun without telling lies?

This drama is the same configuration as JoL. Li Qin is a female lead there but absolutely nobody can say that is her drama nor is she the main character. It's a Zhang Ruoyun drama and Fan Xian is the main character. Does anyone dare say JoL is a romance? The same way this is a Xiao Zhan drama and Zhang Jingyi and Zhou Qi and the others have support roles. It's also not a romance but a revenge drama that has a romance plot.

After all, it is Legend of Zanghai. It is not legend of Zanghai and Xiang An Tu. Why certain people here are so hysterical about making Zhang Jingyi equal to Xiao Zhan here, it's not difficult to guess.

Her small romance line doesn't make her a lead any more than Zhou Qi as second male is a lead.

This a big male lead drama, that centers around Zanghai. Everybody else is a support character, including her. I see lots of ZJY fans here trying to push her into equal position here and that's not how that is.

The solution to this problem is easy - take the promotion of other dramas to pages of those dramas. Don't trash this one to elevate their fave here.

You know what else I think is funny? That you are so concerned about poor antis and those who defend them but you are bothered by people who don't want to see XZ antis rampaging on his dramas pages. You are all just going to have to deal with the fact that outside of this place, the vast, vast majority dislikes either her acting or the character and mostly both. There were two main reasons people dropped this drama. Smaller one was a flat first half, much bigger one was her. It has nothing to do with Ren Min as a person and everything to do with the fact most find her grossly inadequate. You can go on living in some dream where people don't have a brain or something but they do. And most think she was very, very bad. I would recommend all of you to go to TLP official group on Douban to get a grip at reality.

She gets worse. I say this because it's obvious we see her character in a similar ways and from that pov, it only gets worse.

To me, it always seemed like she leaned more towards Yuan and in the most emotional moments I feel like she expressed much higher degree of distress for Yuan than for Shi Ying. There is an interview with Ren Min where she says she messed up because of this thing, that she overdid her emotions with Yuan. What kind of lack of understanding of her character is that?

The ending didn't help but it left me with the possibility of working out my own happy ending and that's Shi Ying with a new wife, that loves him and appreciates him, happily among other immortals. I am happy too now.

But to be really serious, yes, it is a terrible waste of what could have been an iconic drama.

Yes, I watched and this is my opinion. Not everyone has to worship your faves. I think she was terrible in her inability to comprehend the nuance that was required to make a distinction between these two MLs, I don't think she understood the character at all, it showed the most in the death scenes and this ruined an already badly written character for me.
