There were two main reasons people dropped this drama. Smaller one was a flat first half, much bigger one was her. It has nothing to do with Ren Min as a person and everything to do with the fact most find her grossly inadequate. You can go on living in some dream where people don't have a brain or something but they do. And most think she was very, very bad. I would recommend all of you to go to TLP official group on Douban to get a grip at reality.

She gets worse. I say this because it's obvious we see her character in a similar ways and from that pov, it only gets worse.

To me, it always seemed like she leaned more towards Yuan and in the most emotional moments I feel like she expressed much higher degree of distress for Yuan than for Shi Ying. There is an interview with Ren Min where she says she messed up because of this thing, that she overdid her emotions with Yuan. What kind of lack of understanding of her character is that?

The ending didn't help but it left me with the possibility of working out my own happy ending and that's Shi Ying with a new wife, that loves him and appreciates him, happily among other immortals. I am happy too now.

But to be really serious, yes, it is a terrible waste of what could have been an iconic drama.

Yes, I watched and this is my opinion. Not everyone has to worship your faves. I think she was terrible in her inability to comprehend the nuance that was required to make a distinction between these two MLs, I don't think she understood the character at all, it showed the most in the death scenes and this ruined an already badly written character for me.

Best ending with a free Shi Ying.

I love the ending! Why? Because the closer the ending came, the worse FL became.

It was both the plot and the acting but especially the acting that made it completely impossible to tell who Zhu Yan actually likes. The actress made no distinction between romantic love and platonic love. Does she love Shi Ying? Does she love Yuan? Well, she certainly seemed more upset when Yuan died.

With the open ending, I see Shi Ying free of that and happily enjoying immortality in the heavenly court where he will find an actual worthy love. Best ending for me.

Just ignore them. They were super aggressive the other day because some people dared to dislike Zhu Yan. A crime!

Shi Ying is a god who is now enjoying the heavens, think of it that way. It makes it all so much better.

I am watching that drama and the overall rating didn't drop because the mods deleted all the anti 1 star reviews. I don't know why they don't do it for this drama.

That really depends on your perspective I think. Like I said above, if for example I were a Xiao Zhan fan and I saw your post I would definitely just dismiss you as just another anti because what you wrote is exactly what has been pushed by a very loud and not small section of ZRY fans. This started a few months ago maybe, honestly I don't actually remember precisely, when it became clear than neither XZ nor LQ were coming back and especially once it became known that it was ZRY himself that was the issue. Take that as you will but this show (not) being filmed is in no way connected to these two but they are the ones that are being actively blamed, all spearheaded by ZRY fans.

Not too much of a fan of this. I will of course give the first season a try, that cast is amazing but I really hope kdramas stick to their formats as they have been so far. It's really rare that there has been a true need for a second season.
