Episode 26: The hype promised a battle-hardened female general who was at par with the best, but the writers were…
My thoughts exactly. Like I get she is in her moment but it's a huge flaw to get that vulnerable in the middle of a freakin' battlefield, where she's surrounded by enemies in every corner. Not being less empathetic of the situation, but as one of the top generals, she needs to get her act together to defeat her foes foremost and then deal with her emotions for the sake of survival to lead her comrades. I wish they made her full of fury to avenge XJ instead of a breakdown like that and loss all awareness that could've gotten her killed.
Honestly this show has run its course. Season 2 was the best and funniest and there was a real sense of friendly competition, the sequels are just bland and boring.
These few episodes are so sugary sweet with ice cream drizzled with caramel & chocolate topped with peanuts and sprinkles and the whole nine, I'm afraid of getting any cavities. XJ is really a gentlemen or top hubby material on the exterior but they act like an old couple bickering on the inside where no one notices. XJ is just so loyal and devoted to HY it's quite remarkable how protective and thoughtful he is of her.
OK… HERE WE GO… I DEMAND:1- A hot, long kiss scene that is totally illegal by any parent’s standards and…
Not to spill water on your list of demands asking for the moon but I enjoyed reading it haha. I'm just happy to have them grace my screen everyday with that sizzling unparalled chemistry. I can just drink in their visuals both on and off screen. If I'm going to get greedy, I just want to see them in a modern drama again.
Our heroine backed our poor hero into the corner for many eps with her endless flirting so he reciprocates all-in. She can't handle it. I do wonder why XJ stopped himself from closing in to her face in the eyebrow makeup scene, maybe he realizes he's gone too far? But me like, what the heck, there's no interruption, you paralyzed HY with your deadly stares, why are you hesitating dude.....you are the ruthless commander and you should kiss her like no tmr. Then I cool down and tell myself save it for another day lol.
Today's episodes are such a treat in the rom-com department. Lol, does he even look like a father? The photo frame scene is hilarious, our heroine has seen it all haha.
So many complaints on here about Zhou Ye or He Yan not being masculine or general enough? Haha, maybe that's WHO…
Yeah I agree, but people have their right to complain so let them be. I love watching ZY, she comes across as professional and always has a great chemistry with her partners. She doesn't come across as pretentious or too girly in game shows either and can hold her own even with her supposed "petite" stature. In most ways, she acts a lot like herself and I can never get bored of seeing her act. Her character isn't without flaws as others point out but I can overlook those points cause she makes up for it in other ways. I've learnt the art of letting some things slide so I can enjoy the drama for what it is, unless I see something very deceiving like in some other dramas for which I would go on a rant fest but I'm content there's nothing glaringly deceptive here.
Wow. Motorcycle photoshoot is HAWT. These two need to collaborate again in a modern drama. I swear, ZY just looks so compatible and matches well with every actor.
I'm on the fence about this show. It's a nice slice of life genre which is fine and all but my interest starting dwindling each episode. I guess I am a sucker for romance genres so while I know the premise of the show will barely have any of that, I still gave it a try for the friendship aspect which I liked but ended up skipping a lot of scenes due to sheer boredom and it's slow pace. It's definitely up to individual taste but it's just not for me unfortunately.
kinda tired of explaining at this point, there are multiple discussions below on the character design + i get…
Yeah out of all the actresses, she has the stunning yet mysterious ancient look that would also suit this show. She has striking features that will make it more believable a a man. Fun fact though, she and CL are of the same age and also looks compatible with those deadly stares. I sort of get where you are going at, it's good constructive criticism. I wouldn't go so far to say she is a miscast though but like others mentioned, it's all subjective so to each their own. Another good actress is Elaine Zhong, she looks absolutely stunning with strong features and less delicate looking than ZY in a costume drama if you watched Lost in Kunlun Mountains but unfortunately there were SO many people attacking her for her character.
yes, you've captured the essence of who she is, who he is and their relationships. But i see some people complaining…
That's actually funny though. For people who are crying out loud that she's being too childish and not serious enough, I'm sure there are people who would say that she's being too serious and stoic with no range of emotion. She's serious when she needs to be when the situation calls for it but I do agree that some scenes can be choppy and her character can use a little development from being vengeful and ambitious simultaneously. That I blame on cutting episodes too and some editing issues.
Man I love this show to bits and pieces. ZY is totally slaying it even though peeps keep saying she ain't a man, who carrrreeesss. She's so charismatic, I could watch her all day. No wonder this serious no nonsense and strict XJ is just hopeless around her. HY goes swinging her arms around, being disrespectful at times calling his name out instead of his title commander, getting all touchy and he doesn't even push back and just lets her, he's making her an exception for everything and it can be construed as uxorious or just plain devotion. But it's to the point where they treat each other as family members who stick up for each other, it's so romantically sweet. Maybe cause XJ was suppressing his desires around females too long and he just can't hide his affections like the scene where he slowly moves her hair to the side to put ointment on her, like wow guy's so slick for a supposed amateur. It'd be interesting to see a full-blown jealous XJ cause of how protective he is towards HY. I'm all in for it since it's suppose to follow the novel.
I agree, you can feel him just by looking at his eyes and his body language can also reveal his strong emotions…
For sure. He seems to just flow so naturally through the scenes and you really feel his inner struggles. Behind his flirtatious persona, he's actually very broken inside and the fact that teacher is reaching out to him with her unwavering determination really shatters this image he had built up and buried himself in. Despite their age gap and their opposite backgrounds, they manage to deeply and mutually respect each other. This show is deeper than just some fluffy romance.
Very impressed with this show. Especially ML he really acts so natural and emotes so well at the right moments. An upcoming actor with great potential he captures all those nuances that is required for each scene and his raw emotions makes the audience resonate with him. I don't feel awkward watching him compared to some Japanese actors.
