If we compare to first 4 episodes, this one is better than the original bec the only good thing in swdbs was the minmin-bongbong chemistry. But finishing 8 episodes now, this is getting worse than the original showing Baek Mi Kyung doesn't know how to write and just relied on her actors.
I totally agree on you though about the billain here. One dimentional and not attractive for me.

A lot has been changed but cases have similarities in the book. I think it's more of the execution in the first episode where they rushed to intoduce all the characters.

I can see fans creating MDL accounts just to leave comment to criticize the female lead lol.

She is doing an OK job She may not be great, but she isn't as bad as people find it to be. People just have biases and preferences.
Just because you don't prefer her as lead, it doesn't mean her performance is bad. Objectively, she is doing okay and looks like she gave her best portraying the role. But she isn't Kim Yoo Jung who is a sageuk veteran nor is Han Ye Ri who is a GREAT actor and not like Han So Hee who is the prettiest.
If we could just be open and find her charms, you can see her effort and viewing experience will be different.
What should you complain in this drama is the execution and editing which is subpar compared to the sageuk dramas presented before.

The end of episode 6 is a cliffhanger. We still haven't seen the crown prince believing about the suicide. Why are viewers jumping into conclusions now. Fans also do the same, making prejudgments amd speculations.
I saw one comment complaining why Jaeyi was so cheerful and haven't properly mourned for his family. She has no time to grieve. And it's cool that the CP gave her time to mourn in episode 6.
This drama isn't groundbreaking and we've seen this before with only difference fhat the FL is not a damsel in distress but a strong woman eho finds her ways BUT I ENJOY AND LIKE IT AS IT IS. For me, fhe weakest link here ia the execution and editing, not the actors per ae.
Also, to some who complains about Sonee's acting, she may not be the greatest actor to do the job, but we can see she gave her best. Even seasoned actors will have the difficulty to portray it.

I am starting this one. Episode 1 is interesting and well-acted.

She announced in front of servants that she will do as what the CP asked her to do. She also asked the same people where to get uniforms as CP told her she will be the new eunucb. She was referred to another eunuch emphasizing it was the prince's command. They saw her talking to CP, hrnce, they didn't become suapicious of her. Scene just showed she is quick witted and able to make plans ahead.
And while being lost in the palace, she got Princess' trust by saving her from slipping. Her flaw is she doesn't have a name but the CP is quick to recall a name of a eunuch where she can use without being questioned. Yes, it's believable on how they unfold the events leading her to get inside the east palace.
But yes, it's a comfortable plot device from them and I would prefer the drama won't drag around on how she will become a eunuch and focus on the the main plots, which are to solve the curse and prove her innocence.

The CP became curious at her, and not necessarily romantic but he is liking her guts. It is also showing that the CP isn't rly cold as an ice, it's just a facade. We saw him smiling amd being generous with his close subordinates..

And so because actresses are criticized more than actors, you need to help a bit so actors will be given a fair share of criticism too? Haha that's absurd lol.
Also, as actors, they will focus more on being a FIT to the character, and not look ike a model everytime, That is their job primarily and not to please your eyes about their looks.
And beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, if you dislike his looks now, a LOT preferred him better this way. He doesn't even look chubby now as you claim to be especially when I recently saw him without make up😄. His chest is to die for too 😅.

Whether a woman or man, they don't deserve to hear fans focusing more on their looks or body shape than their talents.

Hmmmm, it's not military excuse when he did bulk up to fit his role in Happiness. While he is dashingly handsome in hwarang and Do bong soon, his looks in Two Lights will be his best look.
Like what you said, HE IS AN ACTOR so he needs to fit accdg to his role. His role here in OBY fits his body shape now. As always, he is still handsome.
And he is getting old and mature but is still young looking for his age and if you see the presscon, he doesn't look fat like what you claim to be.

I think it's alrdy shown since the first episode that Yi Hyun will do anything to protect her and he knows Saebom well, that she is stubborn. Remember ysb trying to save her friend inside the trailer truck? He knows she will not sit still to save him also. And he doesn't want saebom to get hurt in the process(bec of him).

The apartment is relatively new, so only few residents are presently living. SaeHyun just moved recently. The room201 is being cleaned right? Because the owner is preparing to move but unfortunately the cleaners were stuck in the lockdown.
