hey Jie Jie,I hope you can give us an update fan guide of BAI LU , after airing love is sweet and jiu Liu Overland
I believe some of her other dramas are rumoured to be airing this year; Forever and Ever, and Chang’an Memories. I might do an updated fan guide once they have aired (if someone else doesn’t do it first 😊).
Whilst Du Lei’s current actions and story arc are leading towards an unhappy ending, it is not really that unsurprising.
From the beginning, his character has been framed as someone who has constantly had the people he loves taken away from him (his parents, his dog, Linda) as well as someone obsessed with proving himself, particularly that he is better than his rival, Yuan Shuai. The fact he is now obsessed with Jiang Jun is a culmination of both these traits; he doesn’t want to lose the last person he loves to his biggest rival.
I don’t approve of his actions at all but I understand why his character has taken this direction. Perhaps he can show he is capable of change and growth but wouldn’t this be the most human thing of all; for someone to not change or to regress? Just my opinion, happy for people to disagree ?
I really like her as an actress but I wish she'd stop filming anything Yu Zheng produces. I'm afraid she'll end…
Thanks for commenting, she is amazing :)
She is signed with Yu Zheng's studio, which is why she stars in so many of his productions. Obviously, I want what is best for her, but there are pros and cons for staying with him. Bai Lu is given opportunities to star in different productions (both in-house and outside) and build her resume. YZ has a lot of connections within the industry, and doesn't stop his artists from working on projects outside his company. On the other hand, he does have a bad rep, and does deliberately involve himself in controversy to get attention for his productions. However, other production companies/owners also come with their own issues, so it wouldn't necessarily benefit her more to leave his studio. However, these are just my thoughts, and I totally can understand why people would disagree :)
For me Bai Lu is the revelation of 2019 among Chinese actresses. I watched AMA by chance because I noticed there…
Thanks for commenting :)
2019 was definitely her breakout year, and all three performances from Legends, Arsenal and Lucky (all so completely different) really solidified for me that she is someone to watch. She has a powerful screen presence.
I am the opposite; Love Is Sweet is currently my most anticipated filmed drama of hers but I am also eagerly awaiting Jiu Liu Overlord. Both are rumoured to be released this year, so fingers crossed.
Yes!!! The Legends is one of top five and AMA is in top eight of my favorite C Dramas..... went and looked up…
Thanks for commenting :)
If you type ‘Bai Lu dancing’ into YouTube, you can find a lot of her routines and videos. Here is one of my favs with her Love Is Sweet second lead, Gao Hanyu: https://youtu.be/FpL7vKVipY4.
I miss her on the screen so much. Will have to re-watch her old dramas. Ever since watching her in King is Not…
Thank you for commenting <3
I absolutely agree, Bai Lu just embodies each character. I never feel like I am watching her. I also feel she improves her range with every performance. I am looking forward to Love Is Sweet too, and rumour has it, it comes out in the next couple of months (fingers crossed).
waa~ thanks for the article! Bai Lu is an absolute girl crush! I first saw her in Lucky's First Love and really…
Thank you for commenting :)
I’m glad you are getting into her work. The Legends, Arsenal and Lucky all came out in 2019, and the variation and versatility she shows for each role is a joy to watch.
Arsenal does have a military theme and elements of patriotism (similar to that of an American patriotic film). What I liked was all the characters and friendships, and I was in awe of Bai Lu. The story was quite good as well.
Wow nice article.I'm a big fan of Bai Lu ever since watching her in The Legends last year, so your article came…
Wow, thank you for your lovely comments ❤️
And I absolutely agree, Bai Lu has a natural charisma which draws the viewer in. If you have time and the interest, I’d definitely recommend checking out Lucky’s First Love (her modern drama); not only is it fluffy and cute but it is completely different from her Legends and Arsenal roles.
I am surprised. A few months back Bai Lu was listed in MDL cast as the Female Lead in C-historical drama Imperial…
Thanks for commenting :) Often in C-ent, casting is only rumoured until filming actually commences--this can be for a variety of reasons, including to build hype and speculation. So you may see Chinese actors/actresses MDL pages change frequently as rumours change. In this case, Bai Lu and Xu Kai were initially rumoured to be paired together, then Bai Lu and another actor, then it changed to Xu Kai and Angelababy and now Xu Kai and his Yanxi co-star Wu Jinyan. This seems the most likely pairing at the moment. Bai Lu now has a new rumoured project which begins filming in September, so fingers crossed.
Like you, this was the first Chinese drama I watched with over 30+ episodes. The characters, the chemistry between the two leads, the costumes, the storyline (except the ending) were all amazing, and it introduced me to my new acting fav, Bai Lu (as you can see from my icon). Thanks for this wonderful review <3
I first watched this drama many years ago, and have returned it many times. Now, I have a kisskh account, I thought it only fair that I finally reviewed this absolute gem.
On the surface, this story is about a American-Japanese girl who sneaks into an all-boys high school, disguised as a boy, to convince her idol that he should return to the competitive high-jumping world, after he suddenly quit, and their subsequent love story.
However, what this story is really about is a bunch of ikemen guys split between three dormitories (Dorm 1: karate, Dorm 2: spot/being attractive and Dorm 3: magicians), participating in a range of bizarre competitions including ball-room dancing, modelling, speed-dating, and treasure-hunting, all of which have been sanctioned by the school itself.
It is funny, emotional and there is a dog. Watch this drama!
The love story between a CEO who has no luck with woman and a game planner who no longer believes in real life love. Quite cliched but still very watchable. The two main leads have good chemistry and the warm Christmas vibes definitely add to the atmosphere.

Bai Lu is incredible to watch and she was the first actress for which I watched a drama over 35+ episodes for.
Also, the rumour is she will be starring in an upcoming xianxia drama, which begins filming in September so fingers crossed.

And her personality and character are lovely.
The Legends was an incredible role, and her following ones were so different yet memorable as well.
And I love seeing her BTS and social media vids as well :)

I also have a massive girl crush on her as well, for the same reasons as yourself. I can’t wait to see where she goes in the future.
