A rollercoaster of good and bad

The plot wasn't for me. There's this common issue with Cdramas where the beginning doesn't match the middle and the end of the story. We are first introduced to smart characters that make you want to give it a chance then halfway through they become the dumbest characters, most esp once the romance becomes official. Reasons unknown but it's a common trope to build a good reputation for our leads at the start of the story only to nerf them and make them so unlike what we were initially introduced to.
Perhaps, for the plot twists which don't end up being a surprise for viewers anyways since we predict the stories in the exact ways they go. Terrible writing for me, I was annoyed midway and the annoyance only eased when they took a break from the plot to focus on their romance again as buffer, but returned anew once the plot picked up. I watch shows to relax and escape the real world not to do the thinking for fictional characters. For characters so smart they made the stupidest mistakes;
MQG's return to the story was almost pointless, she shouldn’t have gotten her memories back, there was no point to it. She was no longer MQG and purely XRR who is apparently supposed to be in her early twenties but still had the same persona from her teenage self, no character development, no maturity. The side characters were too bland, no story, no message, no point, they were iust there to make the cast list. The character who went through the most development in this story was SYS, which became conflicting at some point because he's supposed to be smart but critical thinking failed as well. How convenient the writers needed it to be for the plot to fall into place except it didn't, yet somehow this is hyped as the best Xianxia of 2025? The bar is in hell.
The plot was messy, story very inaccurate, the characters conflicting as we cannot even tell who they are from the continuous changes made to them. They should have left MQG and XRR as separate people if they were going to make one personality disappear to keep the other. This could have been 24 episodes at most, the dragging was unnecessary. There was nothing to see here. The actors were fantastic though, they did their jobs.
