Yeah, I am truly devastated 💔 but Kim Jung Hyun the actor has definitely caught the hearts of many, and in real life, he did suffer a setback just like in this drama, so I hope he makes a strong comeback with the popularity he has gained through his excellent character portrayal of Jeong Hyeong and wins an award or something! I will definitely be watching out more for his shows. Watching this show gave me gains too! I made a nice friend like you 🥰

@CupcakeParty Thank you for your encouraging comments ^.^

To me, you are like a ray of sunshine, a Daddy Long Legs who brings light, hope, and positivity into this discussion!

Many people assume Young Rye has no romantic feelings for Jung Hyun (Daddy Long Legs).

However, I actually believe she does have feelings for him — but she herself isn’t fully aware yet.

Why?

Because emotionally, Young Rye is still in a stage where she thinks: “Real love = fate, butterflies, longing, pain"

To her, love must feel intense and dramatic. It must feel like destiny. It must make her heart race. It must involve sacrifice and endurance.

So when Jung Hyun offers her a different kind of love — calm, steady, respectful, always by her side — she doesn’t recognize it as “romantic love.”

She confuses peace with lack of passion,
when actually… peace is what true romantic maturity looks like.

But emotionally, her heart already responds to it. She relaxes when he appears. She relies on him in crises.

This is shown by various scenes including the most recent one where she exclaims "I was very nervous but after seeing you, I feel calmer, I feel energized"

I think the writer’s intention is to show Young Rye’s emotional growth.

That’s why her journey is not just about choosing between two men — It’s about unlearning superficial love and discovering what real love feels like.

That eventually she will mature and realize that true love is not just excitement, but also: Trust, Safety, Stability, Support in the hardest moments

And when we look back…

Who has been giving her all of this even before she met Jae Pil?

Who protected her quietly?
Who helped her without asking for credit?
Who stood behind her like a shadow, always there?

So it's not that she has no feelings.
It’s that she has not yet learned to recognize this deeper kind of love as “the real thing.”

I believe the writer will lead her to that realization to give her and everyone a proper closure.

Let's quietly hope for this beautiful conclusion tonight!

So true!❣️ You summed it up perfectly❤️It was such a noble, pure & selfless love. He's always been…
Yes — he is the kind of man who can truly give happiness to a woman.

Jung Hyun does not love blindly.

From the very first scene he appeared (Episode 2,29:00) , the writer intentionally shows him as:
*Highly intelligent and a prized catch (top law student, popular, chaebol heir)
*Deeply self-aware
*Emotionally mature
*Naturally selfless

Despite his privileged background, he remains sensitive to the needs of others.

When Young Sik teases him "Being popular looks tiring", Jung Hyun smiles back

"Not for me. If my smile can make someone happy… according to Article 2, Section 10 of the Korean Constitution, all citizens should have the right to pursue happiness.”

That one line already shows his emotional intelligence and philosophy on love.

With his emotional intelligence, every action he takes and every word he utters is with clear intention:

We all can tell that he clearly loves Young Rye sincerely.

*Unlike Jae Pil who seems to be clueless of Young Rye's n his own feelings for 7 years, Jung Hyun already knew of YR's feelings from his observations of her, without words being spoken. This is how intuitive Jung Hyun is.
*He also observed that Jae Pil also has feelings for her but was confused when he saw JP embracing JH.

He is mature enough to know that avoiding the issue will only hurt all parties forever.

So what does he do?

Instead of competing, instead of clinging, Instead of hoping Jae Pil stays passive… He goes directly to Jae Pil and says: “Make a decision. Stop hesitating. Don’t be unfair to her.”

This is NOT self-sacrifice out of weakness. This is emotional courage.

And why this moment is extremely meaningful:

--- He prioritized Young Rye’s clarity over his own desire.
--- He pushed Jae Pil to take responsibility.
--- Most importantly, he calmly accepted the risk of losing her, just to prevent her from suffering.

THIS is love without ego. THIS is love that respects her agency. THIS is love that wants her happiness above all else.

That is why many of us quietly hope…
that someone like him will be endgame

N with his emotional intelligence, we can trust he has already prepared himself to move on. Though I deeply hope he need not do so!

What do I love most about Jung Hyun?

He gives Young Rye dignity even when she loves someone else.

The fact that he prevented her from seeing Jong Hee being embraced by Jae Pil by asking her to go for coffee with him.

The fact that he rather bear the embarrassment of confessing to his mother he likes Young Rye even though it is one-sided.

How not to love such a man who demonstrates such noble love.

A man who:
* Loves without ego
* Protects without controlling
* Respects her choices
*Bears pain silently so she doesn’t have to
*Gives her dignity — even when it costs him

I Love All what you've said, And I agree with that 💯 I'm curious about ur thoughts about their friendship (between…
Yes! I completely agree with you! :)

The MOST important relationship in this entire story is not the romance, but the bond between Young Rye and Jong Hee.

Their friendship is the true heart of the drama.

Think about it:

They have gone through things that even lovers do not go through:

*Jong Hee risked prison to save Young Rye’s life.
*She used her own savings to help Young Rye’s family.
*And most painfully… she gave up the man she loved because she knew Young Rye also loved him.

This is beyond friendship.

It is sisterhood. It is sacrifice. It is the deepest form of love.

That is why I also believe:
If the drama ends with Young Rye happy in romance but losing Jong Hee…
it would not be a satisfying ending at all :(

Because the writer has clearly shown:
*First love is sweet
*But the love between women who protect each other is even stronger.

So for me, the “happy ending” must include:
* The truth finally being revealed
* Emotional healing between the two girls
* Forgiveness, closure, and mutual respect
*Their bond becoming even deeper

Whether they end up choosing the same man or not is a separate issue.

The real question is: Can their friendship survive the truth?

And honestly… I believe the writer will honour their relationship as well as show positive developments in their character through the final choices they will make.

Yang Hee Seung’s previous works always value emotional growth and human connection over simple “who ends up with who".

The ending must show the two girls making choices that prove they have matured emotionally and broken free from the unhealthy patterns and beliefs that once controlled them.

Only then will we, as the audience, feel truly satisfied—
because it means the story has taught us something real,
and we have grown together with them.

This sharing continues my analysis of what the writer is truly trying to depict through this drama.

**** First Love vs True Love in Young Rye’s Journey ****
On the surface, fans are divided into two shipping camps:
“Team Jae Pil” vs. “Team Jung Hyun.”

But if we view it from the writer’s perspective,
the real conflict is NOT between two men…
It is between two versions of Young Rye.

**** Version 1: The Old Young Rye ****
A girl who believes:
Love = sacrifice, endurance, pain.
This version naturally clings to Jae Pil,
because their relationship was built on waiting, longing, and enduring.
To her, painful love feels “real” because it mirrors how she was raised:
“If I suffer enough, I will be loved.”

**** Version 2: The Healing Young Rye ****
A woman who slowly learns:
Love = safety, respect, emotional freedom.
This version might choose differently…
perhaps even a love that feels too gentle, too easy, too unconditional (like what Jung Hyun offers).
And yet—when Jung Hyun tells her to try choosing him (Episode 10),
Young Rye says, “That would be too shameful. If I did that, I should be punished.”
This single line reveals everything:
She believes she does not deserve a love that comes without suffering.

**** So in reality… ****
This drama is not just a romance.
It is a character transformation journey.

The question is not:
“Which man will she choose?”

The deeper question is:
“Which version of herself will she become?”

The version who feels guilty and ashamed for choosing an easy, safe love…
believing she must be punished for it,
or
The version who finally allows herself to receive love
without pain, without guilt, and without sacrificing herself.

I Love All what you've said, And I agree with that 💯 I'm curious about ur thoughts about their friendship (between…
Thank you so much! 🥹💛 I’m really glad it resonated with you.

And YES — I’m also extremely interested in the two things you mentioned.

**** About Jae Pil’s true feelings ****
He definitely cares about Young Rye. He is by nature a kind and helpful person; we already can tell from Episode 1 where he rescues Young Rye to claw back the bus fare from the bus passenger. A person with a compassionate nature like him cannot be feeling nothing after a girl acts as his pillar of support for 7 entire years.

**** The real issue is the UNRESOLVED PAST ****
7 years ago, he loved Jong Hee.
She suddenly broke up with him.
She disappeared without explanation.
And even now, he does not know why.
This is dangerous… because unhealed love does not disappear.
It simply goes quiet.

**** So I keep wondering… ****
What happens when he finally learns the truth?

That Jong Hee actually loved him deeply but gave up her love for him for Young Rye.

Can he continue dating Young Rye without questioning everything? Can his emotions be calm?

**** Something BIGGER?? ****
That’s why I believe the writer is preparing something bigger.

We have NOT been shown the “real” truth between these three.

Once it comes out… it may completely reshape how we view their relationships.

That’s why this story still feels “unfinished.”

Just a few more hours until the writer of this story Yang Hee Seung finally reveals the deeper message she wants us to FEEL. I’m both nervous and excited, aren't you! 😊

Sharing some humble thoughts about Young Rye (I am a Kim Dami fan in case anyone thinks I am not on her side) and what the writer is trying to portray through her character development in this drama.

*** Young Rye's feelings towards Jae Pil (Part 1) ***

To understand Young Rye, we must first understand how she was shaped by her family role

Young Rye’s Background: How she learned to love

Young Rye grew up as:
* The eldest daughter with an older brother (Young Sik) who is in law school.
* Even though she is technically the second-born, she behaves emotionally like the eldest child because:

✅ Older brother is busy studying
✅ She has to work to support the household
✅ She has to suppress her emotions to be “the strong one”

So in responsibility and emotional burden, she is the REAL firstborn caregiver.

So what does “love” mean to someone like her?
👉 Love = Taking care of someone
👉 Love = Holding on no matter what
👉 Love = “If I endure enough, I will be loved”

This has been intentionally shown in one scene in episode 4 where Young Rye's mother got injured and Young Rye visited her in hospital (6:32). In this scene, she laments to her mother "You're only worried about Oppa even in this situation. I am the eldest daughter. One who must earn money and look after her younger siblings. Even my mom treats me like this. Who would consider me precious and like me, right?"

In a second scene, (34:55) Young Rye's mother spotted the bag of medicines meant for Jae Pil and also Young Rye's bruised hands and wanted to use the medicine to apply on her hands. But Young Rye rebutted "When did you start caring about my hands?"

And in a third scene (59:00), her mother bought her hand cream and Young Rye was astounded to receive the gift from her mother. "You never buy me these things". She smiles happily to herself, showing how being treated nicely is a rare occasion to her.

She is the "firstborn daughter” archetype:
*Self-sacrificing
*Caretaker
*Puts others first
*Doesn’t allow herself to desire things freely
*Believes love must be earned through suffering

This is VERY key to understanding her love life.

*Why she holds onto Jae Pil.
*Why she is unable to accept Jung Hyun’s pure love (because it feels too easy — she is not used to receiving love without working for it)

Wow thanks for the info! :)

I watched her in Beautiful Gong Shim as Gong Shim's mother and thought she was really attractive for her age. Now I know why! :)

Please watch the preview of Episode 11 where Young Rye was spotted having a kiss with Jae by her mum and Jyeong Hyeong.

Observe Young Rye's action. She wiped her mouth.

That tells you something, doesn’t it.

If a woman is truly in love and proud of her relationship...

She smiles. She blushes. She might hide her face. She might be shy — but she does not wipe the kiss away,no matter how embarrassed.

Wiping the mouth = discomfort
Not shyness. Not modesty.
Discomfort. She herself feels "something is wrong".

She knows someone else was watching… Jung Hyun.

Perhaps... She feels guilt. Even if she doesn’t admit it.

Imagine being Jae Pil in that moment.

If your girlfriend wipes her mouth after kissing you… That’s painful, isnt it.

And let’s not forget— this is a drama.

Every gesture, every eye movement, every hand action is intentionally planted in by the Director or else improvised by the artistes themselves to stir emotions or thoughts from the audience.

Good directors use subtle physical cues to foreshadow emotional truth. Name those drama scenes where you spot the FL wiping her mouth after a passionate kiss.

The filmmaker WANTS us to notice.

Actors don’t randomly do things like wiping their mouth unless the director tells them to. To show embarrassment, YR could have covered her mouth (no wiping), looked away etc but the Director KEPT the wipe in the final preview.

==> That means it was MEANT to be seen.

The signs of "something is brewing" (in Jyeong Hyeong words) are all surfacing...

It will be an exciting last 2 episodes

This story is not done yet.

The truth about Jong Hee, Jae Pil, and Young Rye’s guilt will explode.

And then perhaps Jung Hyun will become important again. By the way, I ship YR and Daddy Long Legs. I was heart-broken by the kissing scene.

Recall how much sacrifices Jong Hee made for Young Rye.

✅ She STABBED the bus manager to save Young Rye’s life.
→ She risked prison for Young Rye

✅ 2. Young Rye told her to RUN AWAY.
→ Jong Hee left behind her whole life because Young Rye said “go.”

✅ 3. She used HER OWN SAVINGS to help Young Rye when her mother got injured.

✅ 4. Most importantly, she gave up Jae Pil because she knew Young Rye likes him too.

Jong Hee = selfless to an unbelievable degree.

She protected Young Rye’s body, family, AND dreams.

💥 And what did Young Rye do in return?

She decided to compete for the very same man Jong Hee loved the most.

Many of us feel uncomfortable that Young Rye is now with Jae Pil because, morally, it FEELS like:

Jong Hee lost everything for Young Rye.

And Young Rye ended up with the one person Jong Hee loved the most.

Without fully acknowledging that sacrifice.

Without guilt.

Without questioning if this is right.

HOW CAN YOUNG RYE DO THIS AND FEEL NO GUILT?

Or perhaps Young Rye DOES feel guilty.

Perhaps she is suppressing it.

Why? Because it is too painful to face.

So her brain does what? 👉 She calls it “fate.” 👉 She convinces herself it was “meant to be.”

Because “fate” is easier than “I took what she gave up.”

For those who have read the letter by Jae Pil on JTBC site, he mentions how he misses his true love on a rainy day. Recall how Jong Hee went to look for him at the hospital in heavy rain after her conflict with her mother? This is a strong indication of the woman Jae Pil's heart truly leans and I have a strong feeling it is NOT Young Rye.

Perhaps then, Young Rye will finally realise, who is her true destiny?
