I’m pretty sure it’s not his hand. it’s really similar and it threw me. I don’t remember the episode. do you recall? I want to go back and look.

my mom and I have these thumbs (it’s genetic) so we are really good at picking them out in a crowd. no joke, someone can walk by and I notice them.
plus I got teased A LOT for having these thumbs. I try to tell strangers that they’re not alone since I know they’ve been teased too.

yeah! while you rewatch it, pay close attention if you don’t already know what his thumbs look like. the last part of our finger is dwarf in nature (it’s called brachydactyly type D).

now what’s really bizarre is that when there are scenes when he’s looking through his hand up to the sun, they use someone else’s hand …

LXY looks so good when he’s distraught with the long hair and the wispies. gosh he’s gorgeous.

so you know how MJH got the Dragon Whisker from the crown prince, he entrusts it to Yue Qin to grow it. he also entrusts Mei Lin to Yue Qin for her safety especially since MJH doesn’t think he’ll survive the fight against his brother. so Mei Lin goes to Xiyan.

MJH goes to be the governor in Qingzhou where he and Mei Lin see each other a lot bc she and Yue Qin go to set up the peace trading between Yan and Xiyan. eventually they win over the people and the city prospers (yay)

the stupid king of Xiyan gets ahold of the flower and eats it. Yue Qin makes a poor choice of using blood magic to try and save Mei Lin, almost killing a’Yi (Mei Lin’s friend), but the blood magic only buys Mei Lin more time not cure her. to ensure no one else suffers for her, she fakes her death.

MJH hears of this, finds her grave, takes her “body” and basically takes her around Qingzhou because he cannot accept she’s dead. (yes, slightly disturbing. don’t think too hard about it. they’re trying to show how much he loves her)

anyway, she wakes up, pretends to be “Miss Hua” but MJH knows she’s alive but respects her choice and stays away from her. oh. he thinks she’s cured because no one told him the king of Xiyan ate the flower.

so Mingju (Xiyan general guy) wants Qingzhou and war etc. he succeeds and there is a battle where people die (that large fellow Wei shows back up - he dies). then Qingyan dies in a night raid attack (really sad). Yan beats Xiyan (yay) and MJH finds out Mei Lin is still poisoned. they cannot find the flower again and she passes away (she dies watching MJH paint them together. it was heart wretching).

amogsnt all this, Zigu falls in love with the Emporer, she gets pregnant but dies during a miscarriage (was also really sad)

emperor abdicates. MJH becomes emperor. Yan prospers. 10 years later MJH dies in the same chair, same season (it’s snowing) as Mei Lin.


the end.

I tried that one. the FL is not one of my favorite actors and it was hard to keep watching bc of her. plus the story was not as intriguing to me. I’ll try again bc I love LXY so much.

I believe it has to do with her health. plus he lied to her about big things. she’s also known to be stubborn so that also plays into it.

the actors saved this so much. I even cried over the antagonist!

this drama reminded me why I don’t like SE. don’t get me wrong. I LOVE this drama. I didn’t know it was to be a SE - I usually make sure by searching the web but I started this while it was being aired and got sucked in.


now I need to watch something that will make me feel better …

I don’t think it’s open but it’s not tightly tied up in a neat bow.

I saw that the author had a HE and that there is more to the story. Not sure why the drama decided to stop at the SE option. In my head the real ending is the novel.

I know how it ends and I’m trying not to let myself hope for an ending I know will never come.
