Yes. I am enjoying it. For some reason, viewers started relationship shipping and some of the choices were completely outside the context of the story. Many people are disappointed because it's not turning out the way they wanted. (There's still one more episode and of course, anything can happen).
If you decide to watch, it's good to focus on what they're saying and doing because it's easy to get confused or lost with the many twists and turns this drama takes. Try thinking of it as an espionage/spy/political conspiracy drama, with a strong unbreakable love story.
now Jae Hee is magically going to start acting like she cares about Hoon? is that supposed to the the big, is…
She always cared about Hoon. She was distant because she was an alias, Seung Hee. When she found out Hoon knew she was Jae Hee, she didn't need to be distant any more. But, she still needed to keep their relationship a secret from everyone else. They spent the whole day together and started having private intimate gestures toward each other. It wasn't all of a sudden, it's been going on for several episodes.
Well, I must defend our SooHyun's honor: Of course she's a mess right now! Who wouldn't be when the guy you've…
Hoon rejected her several times. Here are some times he did:
1. The biggest rejection is when she finds out he's in love with JaeHee. Even she said he doesn't have room in his heart for her. She should have stopped there and just been his friend, but she didn't.
2. When SooHyun called Hoon about the party (karaoke) and she said it was her, he was ready to hang up on her. When he found out JaeHee was there, not only did he show up at the party, he ignored everyone, grabbed JaeHee and took her out. Just by him doing that, without knowing their conversation, shows that there is more to them than what they're saying. Of course it's not enough information for SooHyun to make a clear judgement, but it's a subtle rejection to keep in mind.
3. Hoon wasn't joking when he told her. He just said it kindly, in front of her lover so there would not be any misunderstandings between she and her boyfriend JaeJoon. JaeJoon brought that up in the conversation before going to JaeHee's house and Hoon wanted to make it clear to JaeJoon and SoonHyun that there is nothing between them. When SoonHyun ran upstairs, everyone was ready to console her, except Hoon, because Hoon wasn't joking. JaeJoon told SooHyun he was joking to console her. If Hoon was really joking, he would have apologized to her once he knew SooHyun was offended. Even JaeHee tried to tell Hoon he was wrong, but he said to leave it alone. So, yes, I think he meant it and wasn't joking.
The next day SooHyun goes to Hoon with food JaeHee made, so she can get an apology from him. He said he meant every word he said the night before. Then he seriously asks her if she likes him and she said no. That's when he apologizes for what he said...because he believes she doesn't like him, so there is no reason for him to think she does.
4. Since SooHyun ignored the previous hints and kind rejections, she left Hoon with only one other choice. A harsh rejection that would let her know there is no way they can be together. That's when he told her about her dad. He didn't repeat himself and say he doesn't like her, because she ignored that. She runs to confront her dad, which is normal, and her dad says what Hoon was saying all along...it won't work.
5. The last rejection is when she gets nosy and goes through Hoon's personal belongings and he and JaeHee walk in holding hands. JaeHee tries to let go of his hand, but he holds on to JaeHee tighter.
SooHyun confessed her feelings and she didn't feel good afterwards. She was more hurt than ever. If she had stopped pursuing Hoon when she found out he was in love with someone else, she would have saved herself a lot of heartache. She should have waited for Hoon to pursue her, because no one can force another person to like/love them...and that's what she is trying to do.
The situation between Hoon and JaeHee is no one else's business. Even if she wasn't JaeHee, it is none of SooHyun's business, because she is only a friend to him...not a girlfriend. Just because she has feelings for him does not mean she gets to know about his relationships with other people. If he liked her, he would tell her without her even asking because he wouldn't want to lose her.
By the way, two other subtle hints of rejection: 1. Hoon got fired from the hospital and he said goodbye to SoonHyun without giving hope they'd see each other again. 2. SooHyun wants to believe he'd come back and gives him his doctors coat. He throws it away in front of her. If he liked her, he would have made sure she knew he'd be contacting her and he wouldn't have thrown the coat away (at least not in front of her).
TakiyaGensan - The things I mentioned above is what makes SooHyun annoying. She keeps pursuing Hoon and doesn't care about anyone else's feelings. It's all about her. I'm not trying to make a bad comment about her, so I hope no one gets offended by my posts. True that her father made a huge mess of Hoon's family, but SooHyun is making a mess too...like waking up a patient to prove Hoon's innocence and not thinking about the patient. There are many more examples, but this post is too long as it is.
Well, I must defend our SooHyun's honor: Of course she's a mess right now! Who wouldn't be when the guy you've…
1. She should have stopped pursuing him when he said there is no way they would get together. But she was so focused on what she wanted, she never thought about Hoon or Jae Hee. She should have respected Hoon and put him in the friend zone.
2. It was fine if she wanted to apologize for what her father did to Hoon's father, but the only reason he told her that was to, again, let her know they are not getting together. Also, she didn't have to be nosy and rummage through his computer and desk drawers. Men would be highly upset about that and write that person off as a psycho.
3. If she had backed off when Hoon first said so, she would have been ok with finding out that information.
4. Hoon and Jae Hee have the right to hide information from SooHyun because Hoon and JaeHee are in a relationship and it's none of SooHyun's business what they are doing. He already told SooHyun they are never going to have a relationship.
5. If she would have listened to Hoon in the first place instead of trying to change his mind, she would not have been blinded.
6. She was being a burden to Hoon. She kept pursuing him and he kept telling her no. She should have let him go earlier and remained his friend without trying to be his girlfriend. She is a burden now because she's hurt and it's making Hoon and JaeHee feel guilty. If SooHyun listened to Hoon when he rejected her many times before, she could have set boundaries and made sure she had less contact with him. But, because she's only thinking about herself and not Hoon or his love for JaeHee, she didn't listen to him. She wasn't a burden to her ex-boyfriend after she told him what was going on.
SooHyun knows that Hoon is madly in love with JaeHee, So, why would she confess her feelings to him after he told her several times that nothing will happen between them?
When Hoon ran away with JaeHee, it was all planned. From faking JaeHee's death, to running to the embassy in Budapest. The Prime Minister changed the plans when they arrived at the embassy. That's why they had to continue running.
SooHyun doesn't put herself in anyone's shoes except her own. That's why she created such a huge mess.
Ending Spoiler - In the book, Hoon marries JaeHee and they have a child. JaeHee finds out that Hoon killed her family by running medical tests on them in North Korea. She couldn't forgive him, so she moved back to North Korea with their child and stayed with another man who deeply loves her. Hoon returns to South Korea after realizing they can't get back together. He meets up with SooHyun and marries her out of pity. They have a child together and he ends up in a loveless marriage with her. He never loves SooHyun because he's still in love with JaeHee. The drama is different from the book and I'm not sure who Hoon will end up with.
I think he should stay with JaeHee because they are in love with each other. It would be unfair to JaeHee if he just left her and unfair to SooHyun to marry her when he doesn't love her.
Well, I must defend our SooHyun's honor: Of course she's a mess right now! Who wouldn't be when the guy you've…
Just to comment on what you said about SooHyun and JaeHee:
SooHyun crying in pain about Hoon - If she's crying in pain about Hoon and never had any type of romantic relationship with him (No kissing, holding hands, romantic time spent alone, dates, etc), she is emotionally unstable and unable to have a healthy relationship with Hoon. She's already acting like a stalker because she won't leave him alone after he has told her on several occasions nothing will happen between them. Being disappointed or shedding a few tears is normal, but wanting to die, can't function, etc.? That's scary and annoying.
JaeHee crying about Hoon is completely understandable because she is giving up a relationship with her fiancé and best friend she has known since childhood. It wouldn't be normal if she didn't cry.
SooHyun waking the patient was negligible on her part because she was not in charge of the patient.,.Hoon was and he gave specific post-operative instructions for the care of the patient. SooHyun decided on her own to wake the patient and caused him to go into cardiac arrest.
JaeHee spoke with Hoon, the doctor in charge, before waking the patient.
SooHyun not telling JaeJoon about her feelings for Hoon was cheating because that was her boyfriend and they were going to get engaged. She even ran to her boyfriend and cried on him about Hoon without telling him. I don't know how she could do that and be ok with it.
JaeHee is a spy, and so is Hoon. That's why he was in prison for 2 years (he got caught). That's why Hoon was ok with her not saying much of anything, because he's been in the same position. When he found out about his Mother, that's when he pushed the issue about knowing what's going on and JaeHee told him. When she finally told him about her plan, she reconfirmed her love for him.
It's not that 'other shippers' are insecure, it's because JaeHee and Hoon have been together since childhood and they were forcefully separated. Now that JaeHee admitted she is JaeHee, people are rooting for them to finally have their chance together without the government's involvement. They both have a lot of love for each other and it's frustrating to see the writers move toward a Hoon SooHyun ending when JaeHee and Hoon have been together for so long. Throughout the whole drama, he made it clear to SooHyun there will never be anything between them. He even treats her like everyone else. The only person he treats differently is JaeHee; which is expected since that's his fiancee. So, it wouldn't make sense if Hoon, all of a sudden, changed his mind and left Jaehee to fend for herself when she's doing everything she can to keep him and is mom safe.
If you decide to watch, it's good to focus on what they're saying and doing because it's easy to get confused or lost with the many twists and turns this drama takes. Try thinking of it as an espionage/spy/political conspiracy drama, with a strong unbreakable love story.
*fixed it! LOL
