hey everyone.. I came across this video clip today on youtube with a cover photo of Granny Xie (Wu Yan Shu).. at first I was hesitant to click on it as it may contain a not so good news of our fave cdrama grannie..
but to my pleasant surprise it was Xu Hong Dou (Crystal Liu) presenting an introduction & award to Granny Xie at an award gala that just happened a few weeks ago..
it was so nice to see Hong Dou & Granny Xie together again this 2025 as I am rewatching some episodes of Meet Yourself right now..
glad to see Granny Xie who is 87 years old this year to still have so much vibrant vitality to this day..
I was hoping for a kind hearted someone here at MDL to point me towards the direction of where I can find the subtitle or a video with translations for this clip as I want to understand How Hong Dou was giving Honor to Granny..

Brooo... reallly ??!??! Boston Legal??!?? your giving away your age!! LOL Loved that show.. especially Betty White's character but David Spade and his character was just so damn good! I love the the synergy between him and William Shatner with very good scripts. I reccomended that show to my friends especially lawyer friends years ago and they also loved it.
That was also a good era of Hollywood TV series, there were a ton of good shows back then, House, Scrubs, Smallville, Mentalist, Grey, Suits, Friends, Gotham, Numbers, 24, Sons of Anarchy, The Shield, Monk, etc.. the list goes on..
If its any consolation to you, about the age thing, I believe I'm older as I started off with my love for a good TV series with the era of Doogie Howser, M.D. & Murphy Brown followed by McGyver :)
Im glad that the world is moving to a multi-polar world now, instead of the unipolar order where that "hegemonic power" ran amok these past 3 decades. Glad to see also a multi-polar world too when it comes to entertainment especially dramas, people can get to taste different flavors instead of the usual that came out of Hollywood - cdrama, kdrama, jdrama, thai, african, bollywood, latin, etc. These dramas will give insights to viewers that almost all people around the world are no different from each other.
Up to now, I have yet to see a lot of people who acknowledges that 750M out-of-poverty feat especially in the west which is sad, though Im not surprised, given their tendency to look down on everybody else.
Whenever I encounter people spewing nonsense like the chinese people are fed up with the CPC, I show them the long term study by no less than that of the Harvad University in 2020 regarding the high approval rating (90+ %) of the CPC among its citizens. It stuns them and takes minutes for them regain their composure to think of petty excuses to downplay the study they just read. I usually end those convos with "their house, their rules"
I hope you dont mind me asking, do you happen to also be the person that has a youtube channel for cdrama oSTs??? cant help but suspect that your the same person because of you usernames.
I totally understand where your coming from, everybody has the right to love or not like their/other government. You are not wrong about how you feel towards government or things, just be on the lookout whether it is turning into an ugly form of hate . One's right becomes invalid when it starts to infringe on other people' rights.
Basically the reason I commented on this thread is all about respect. Whether a person or entity is a friend or enemy, due respect should always be accorded to them by calling them the right name as in the case of the CPC. Im sure everyone wants to be called by their proper name whoever they are and not any derogatory name.
Another point I'd like to make is the "anti-china" I mentioned in my post is regarding those people (in which I oppose) that are fostering the prevalence of anti-china sentiment that somewhat/fuels "Xenophobia" / "Blind Hate" which is very disturbing (and Im not even Chinese but of S.E.A. Malay lineage). Racism, Xenophobia, Islamaphobia, Russophobia is the same hate-fuel that made the moustache man in Germany in WW2 commit those atrocities, that is why I am voicing out against this whenever I can.

As PeachBlossomGoddess used in this thread is the correct term for the political party governing China right now. And a lot of MDL veterans knows PeachBlossomGoddess is well informed regarding China.
You will mostly see obnoxious/ignorant anti-china people will use CCP when referring to this political party. Proof of this is in the youtube comment section when the subject video is about China.

Just finished re-watching the whole drama. Noteworthy is the happy moments and relishing them again. Plus new appreciation of the main & side-characters knowing what will unfold for them.
This is why I love long form dramas, its an epic journey with your fave characters.
Blossoms in Adversity - is just like your girlfriend/boyfriend, full of imperfections plot & production wise, but you just love her/him like perfection :)

I found it weird that she didnt attend the wedding too. I wouldve loved seeing her dote on Shaoyao. It looks like…
yep.. seeing the empress dowager in the wedding scenes would have been the icing on the cake for me.. emperor jian was able to sneak out for the wedding is good too..
I really wish they swapped out the last scene Of "Shaoyao, Shen Qi & Jian" with "Shaoyao and the Empress Dowager" so the spirit of the friendship between Madam Hua and Empress Dowager lives on through Shaoyao..
Looks like they still have some left over production money to splurge on the CGI of the dolphins in the end part.. it was an overkill.. :D
Anyways, Im happy with the wedding walk sequence & seeing all the happy faces of the characters of this drama.
