I agree that he’s still complex and of course I’m not saying that he didn’t do anything besides chasing FL, I know that he was still scheming on the side but it seems like the obsessive part focus was doing too much for his character since in the novel he was never obsessed with her like that. It’s exactly that he’s such an equal to Wei Zhao that not making his character focus more on politics (like in the novel) but instead on FL is a waste of his character.

Im sure his character was supposed to be annoying to the viewers so yea thats why he needed that redemption arc. He spent majority of his screen time being obsessed over FL for nothing when he could’ve actually do other things (like the smart and cunning person he is) and be more interesting but it was all just wasted on being obsessed with FL. They did butchered PY and tbh didn’t get the justice that he deserved.

The actor is great. I enjoyed his character too even thou they purposely want to make him annoying with the unnecessary forced obsessive behavior 🙄 i ended up still liking him anyway & i like his character development

Rewatching this and I appreciate Pei Yan more than before. I think his character and him is the most interesting to watch. It’s due to Jeremy’s acting as well that made me like Pei Yan because he’s so good that he impressed me. He’s got good screen presence, aura, charisma and he’s super handsome too. He’s got all no wonder I like Pei Yan. This was my first time seeing Jeremy and I became a fan after. Love him 💕
