I see that the previews show Simu erasing Duan Xu’s memories…are we heading towards an amnesia plot? Did this happen in the novel? I heard it was pretty faithful to the original story so far, so hoping it remains that way

Question for novel readers…

Maybe I am the minority but I’m really liking the chemistry between the main leads. Gave this a chance because I remember the time I was skeptical about Dilreba being paired with Wu Lei in The Long Ballad but it ended being one of my fave dramas that year. Reba and Arthur work well together too!

This drama kinda reminds me of Kdramas fantasy romances Goblin or Hotel Del Luna, which I loved as well.

Wow 9.1??? Is it safe to assume that most of you recommend this drama?

Thanks for sharing! I do think these type of characters make the show more interesting, someone who is morally grey. Sounds like the actor can execute the complexities well, so that's good! I mean, that's what I loved about Cang Xuan in LYF.

LOL I feel like the 'righteous' sects in Cdramaland are always shown as the hypocrites so not surprised here. I don't know if I can watch an unhinged and toxic love story rn, but was just curious so had to ask. :)

the visuals are amazing but is it just me or is the love actually quite toxic? is the ML like this in the novel too? And they still end up together?

I'm so happy to see there are people who liked LG as Jiang Ni :') it was hard seeing all the criticism she got. I feel like even if they plan on casting her again she might not even want to take it because of the backlash she got in Season 1. I don't know how this will play out, it must've been hard for them to bring back most of the main cast in Joy of Life 2, let alone SSS 2. I hope they will bring the main actors back including LG!!!

OMG happy to see fans of Teresa Li's Jiang Ni. I loved her too! I loved her dynamics with Xu Feng Nian. I don't understand the hate that she got when the show was airing, because based on the few excerpts I've read, she portrays Jiang Ni the way the character was shown in the novel - a tsundere who bickers with the male lead like an old couple. And the whole criticism about her looks was unnecessary, her features may not be striking but they were easy on the eyes and she suited the role with her youthful looks and sweet smile. I'm sad they plan on swapping actors for her. I need the same main cast and that includes Teresa Li!

I also dislike the harem aspect of the original which is why I want to treat it as a separate story. I think Xu Feng Nian is supposed to be more likeable here, more of a gentleman and less crude. Can only accept a one woman kinda guy LOL. The thing I appreciate about this show is that the romance is quite subdued (which worked well for the main couple), the main plot is still on the politics.

Me too! I remember when S1 finished airing ppl said that she was gonna be replaced and I really hope that’s not the case! I think I may be one of the few that liked their chemistry

Was he really a player in the novel? I cannot imagine him having a child with Hong Shu if the one he likes is Jiang Ni. Also it’s odd JN ended up with him since Xu Xiao killed her parents in the novel (is that what happened?).And is it true XFN ended up living in seclusion later? Who takes over Bei Liang then

I never read the novel but from what I did hear about it I am glad they made whatever changes they did - I don’t think I would enjoy seeing XFN with his harem of women. I am team Jiang Ni!

Omg what no way?! I just started rewatching recently because I missed this show and was wondering if they will ever make season 2. Did they already start filming??? I heard rumours from the time S1 ended that Teresa will not continue playing Jiang Ni and REALLY HOPE IT’S NOT TRUE. I may be the minority but I loved her and love the leads together!!!

I NEED TO SEE OUR CHENG YI AND XIAO SHUN YAO. miss my MLC duo T_T
