Watched till ep 18 and the tension between the 2 MLs is through the roof!!
I'm really enjoying the back and forth between the 2 MLs, both have their secrets and both knows each other's secret. On the surface they exchange polite words but their words have double meanings and both are looking for the other's weakness.
I like how the FL's character is crafted, she is resolute in what she believes and stands her ground in the face of unfairness to ensure that justice is served.
From ep 11 onwards, the story takes a 180 degree turn and we see the mask of Pei Yan slowly unravel while the icy image of Wei Zhao slowly melts. Wei Zhao's outfits looks so good and suits him sooo well.
Xiao Gang's injury could have been avoided if he wore a bullet proof vest. In fact, everyone (incl the criminals)…
I feel it is to show the lack of resources that the team faced in that era. The faulty walkie-talkie, insufficient bullet-proof vests and only having 1 wiretap device etc. So priority of the vest is given to less/non-combat members such as Gu Yi Ran.
Such a well written, well produced and well cast drama. The drama really nailed the 1990s vibes, from the languages and accent spoken, props, clothing and shooting locations. From the caring leader Zheng Bei to the nerdy scientist Gu Yi Ran, the actors really brought their characters to life.
I really appreciate how realistic the drama is, there is no super genius or some hero who jumps into impossible dangers and somehow doesn't get injured. It is simply a team of ordinary policeman that set out to fight the war against drugs in a time where there isn't a specialized narcotics team. The lack of knowledge towards drugs, lack of resources, technology and equipment adds to the realism.
Take ratings with a pinch of salt, everyone has different taste and want different things from dramas. Give the drama a watch before deciding or you might missed out a good drama!
For once a ruthless ML is really ruthless, too often MLs are given this "ruthless" persona but the moment he meets the FL he will magically has a soft spot for her. It is logical why he shows her no mercy, she has constantly foiled his plans and caused injury/death to his subordinates. He cannot let his guard down as he has a screwed up childhood + has the weight of the entire clan on him.
Other than the first unfortunate meeting, the FL cannot really complain why the ML goes after her. She says she wants nothing to do with him but at the same time wants to act smart and find all ways to scheme against Wei Zhao and spoil his plans.
I love the tension between Wei Zhao & Pei Yan, 2 extremely intelligent & complicated individuals, constantly testing and scheming against each other. It is like they are playing 3D chess.
This is a unique story line and I am looking forward to see what unfolds from here.
It’s funny because I saw SML for the first time as a protagonist this year in sword and fairy four and he played…
I totally like him in Sword & Fairy 4 as well! I feel he has a "good guy" face so it was a bit jarring to see him being all crazy and evil here. But he still carried the role well!
some questions please, is there a love triangleand is it angsthow the romance? are they break up and how lone…
Believe you are referring to the main lead couple. As far as I can remember: - There is no real love triangle - ML's. past is filled with angst - Romance is sweet and lovely! - There's sort of a break up but it only last 2ish episodes - They start to love each other quite early on in the drama
Ding Yu Xi is such a phenomenal actor, his eyes speaks, his micro expressions is on point and the way he carry himself totally fits his character! You can understand every emotion that Shen Du is feeling. I enjoy every drama that he is in and I hope he gets plenty of good scripts in the future.
This drama is really worth watching, the fight scenes are well choreographed and many scenes are shot in a different way than what we usually expect which is so refreshing. The FL is intelligent but not arrogant, cute but not cringey, innocent but not gullible.
There are some side characters which I feel is a little unnecessary but maybe the director just wants to give all major & supporting characters a proper story arc.
Give this a watch, it is well worth it. (If you are skeptical, at least give it 6-7 eps)
Something to pass the time if you're bored. I think ZYR was miscast in this. For a main character, she lacks the…
Agree, she was not convincing as a royal princess. Even when she wore her royal outfit and flanked by her servants, she did not give off a sense of authority commanding over her subjects, it just felt a little flat.
Can we really blame her for abandoning her country at that time ? she was like at most 10 years old. I can’t…
Agree, but she did not seem to have any longing to go back or knew of the hardships her people were going through either. What A Shi Lan said to her holds some truth, what right does AShu has to say anything when she already abandoned them all these years.
Maybe the scriptwriter should have put in some parts in the beginning showing that AShu has tried some means to reach out/help her fellow countryman.
I love dramas that moves away from the usual cliche stories and gives us something new, Go East is totally such a drama that focuses essentially on the Foreign Affairs of the nation.
The ML is not the cliche strong warrior or super genius, he is intelligent but requires the help of others, the story always brings back to the idea that Sifang needs to work together. TJC is marvelous and I'm impressed by his acting. Yu De Shui is the total MVP here, the actor really bind everyone and the whole story together, always loved his scenes.
Only critic I have would be A Shu, as her story does not sway the viewer to root for her. A princess that abandoned her people, escaped to another country and had no intention of going back, she only took back her title cause of circumstances forcing her hand. I commend the actress for using her real voice here, but in some scenes she does not convey the emotions well or commands the attention as the Princess.
Currently on ep 7 and impressed by the acting of all the main cast. The story and characters are unique!
However, the writers didn't set up A Shu's character to be very likable even though she is the FL. She illegally enters a city but somehow forces YM to solve her issues while she creates problems for him. No gratitude, no apology, just demands things and cries when YM finally gives her a piece of his mind.
I know this to create a bond between the leads and have read other comments that her character improves from here, but felt the writers could have given her a more logical and likable setting.
Is it right for QHL to talk down to and belittle SH so often? No matter how intelligent this is hard to bear
Those parts should be taken in a more lighthearted manner, it is not about being condescending but just casual banter between QHL and SH. I see it more as them working together as partners that can joke with each other.
There is nothing more to ask, this drama delivers in every department. Marvelous script, cast, production! It has brotherhood, friendship, romance, comedy, time-travel, horror, folklore all rolled into one.
I initially avoided this as the topic is very heavy and heartbreaking, however the show is very beautifully done and respected the seriousness of ALS (and by extension terminal illnesses) and sends a message of strength, hope and love. Not all problems that we face has a solution, but we still need to persevere.
The whole cast, especially Lin Yi and Landy Li encapsulated the pain and helplessness which the patient and their loved ones goes through.
The 4 main characters had great chemistry and I always looked forward to when the quartet are together. The scriptwriter did try a fresh take on the "good immortals vs evil demons" story which I applaud them for the effort.
However, it seems that the scriptwriters got a little too ambitious as towards the end, the story got confusing and jumped between different groups of people and timelines. The ending felt random and not properly explained.
It is still a drama worth watching and if you like any of the 4 main leads, I believe you will enjoy it more as the characters were written well.
BDJ cared for YDZ more than Wen Jun. Sikong respected YDZ more than Wen Jun. Mr Li believed in YDZ more than Wen Jun. Even Prince Lang Ya worked to clear the Ye family's name while Wen Jun did nothing.
I wonder how YDZ's life would have been if he had accepted to be Mr Li's disciple and was part of the brotherhood of BDZ, Sikong and all the ShiXiongs . If he put down his past and live life as Ye Yun, how carefree it would have been.
Currently watching this drama and the story line is interesting and unique. The chemistry and acting of Zhang Ling He, Darren Chen and Chang Long are such a joy to watch and the trio gels well together. Appreciate that they seem to be all using their actual voice.
However I feel like Jing Tian's characterization of Nan Yan is not very consistent. She goes from being a rough & tough medicine girl to being subdued & serious after her training and sometimes she is suddenly demure & gentle. The character's personality swings very drastically at times which is quite jarring. I am just nitpicking cause it is bothering me somewhat but this is still a drama I intent to watch till the end.
Looking forward to the quartet getting back together!
Basically many of the problems in this series wouldn't have been there if not for YWJ. She was set to marry the…
Agree! Her brother, YDZ, BDJ and Sikong all put their lives on the line to help her while she just sat in her room with 0 retaliation. Really the definition of damsel in distress.
Once she escaped, she was not decisive enough to cut off everything from her past palace life, if she was going to feel guilty abandoning her palace child then she should have just accept her fate to begin with!
Just started on this drama and I'm enjoying it so much! The action/fighting scenes are great and the characters all don't take themselves too seriously which is refreshing. Having watched The Blood Of Youth, I am delighted that they maintained the same tone for both dramas.
My favourite so far is Sikong Chang Feng, I want to follow his story and know more about him!
