Reading the comments sounds good, looking forward for a wonderful traditional wuxia, the last good one I watched was the underdog Side Story of Fox Volant last year
Watched him in Side story of Fox Volant his portrayal of Miao ren feng was brilliant and stood out the most. I know china production house and the actor will never read this but I also hope he will play more complex wuxia or historical characters in the future because he has that complex bittersweet ancient hero aura especially with the stache and goatee, and he is in good form for action
I really liked Miao Ren Feng and found his and Lan ans story more enjoyable.
Miao Ren Feng and Lan story is very bittersweet inclining more towards bitter. It was doomed from the start because Miao Ren Feng and Lan were two different people with different backgrounds and upbringing. Miao Ren Feng had fallen for her the moment she selflessly sucked his poison out, it was crystal clear and beautifully felt even without words spoken in the scene. As long as she was willing to follow him he will treasure her and protect her, but sadly an official's daughter couldn't understand and accept a martial arts hero's conduct, a fragile heart like this who craved affection and stability for herself and her daughter easily fell prey to others' sinister plot.
Their ending after they stepped out of Tianlongmen was acceptable, she saved him and willingly followed him again and finally comprehended his true character, and true to his promise and character he endearingly protected her and took her home again. Afterall, he did promised to treasure her if she choose to follow him and she was still Ruolan's mom.

This drama is old school wuxia at heart it brings back the childhood feeling of watching TVB kungfu dramas and Shaw Brothers HK movies. You can see from the natural camera filter unlike other new cdramas, the director must have been fan of old school HK kungfu movies
