The story is not complicated actually. But the point was not that at all. It's not simply a police catching the criminal drama. Dongsik is a police but he's also the family member of the victim, Yuyeon. That's where lies the essence of it all. Han Juwon's motives were clear as day. His obsession with the case was explained. You just have to look at his actions and what he was saying all along. 1. His informant was involved. He carried a sting operation all on his own which had its consequence. The guilt was eating him alive. 2. He came to Manyang with the belief that Dongsik is the main culprit. His idea of justice was very black and white. 3. In the second half, he was "reborn". This is all I'm going to say. Even though I have marked this as spoiler, I'll still not want anybody reading this to get spoiled. Whoever is about to watch this should really keep this in mind that this is a "psychological thriller". It's a little different from a regular crime thriller that goes around.
